What are your favorite ways to sneak in less traditionally feminine nicknames with feminine names? So far I’ve been thinking of names like [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] nn [name_u]Jet[/name_u], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] nn AJ, or also [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_u]Jet[/name_u], and other initial names…And just balancing out a name by pairing a gender neutral name with a more feminine one?
I LOVE [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] nn [name_u]Jet[/name_u]! That was on my list for a long time. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite atm is [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] nn [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]! For initial nicknames, I love SJ, PJ and JJ for girls.
I also recently came up with [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] nn [name_m]Felix[/name_m]/Phelix… People either love it or hate it, I think it’s adorable.
I love [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_u]Jet[/name_u]! Such a cool combo. I also like the idea of [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f].
[name_f]My[/name_f] daughter’s initials are AJ and although I don’t call her that I have a friend who does. I think it’s pretty cute and can see myself using it in the future.
I love feminine names that lead to boyish nicknames. Some of my favourites are [name_f]Olive[/name_f] ‘Oli’, [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] ‘[name_u]Teddy[/name_u]’ or ‘[name_u]Theo[/name_u]’, and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Leni[/name_f]’. I also love the name [name_u]Noa[/name_u], which is of course a Hebrew girls’ name but sounds like the much more commonly used boys’ name [name_u]Noah[/name_u].
I also like combining more feminine names with boyish nicknames like [name_u]Frankie[/name_u], [name_u]Billie[/name_u] etc. And I quite like gender neutral middles like Adair, Lowell, Marlowe etc, especially if they have literary ties.
By nicknames:
[name_f]Leonore[/name_f] nn [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] nn [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]/Theo
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] nn [name_u]Jo[/name_u]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f] nn [name_u]Max[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] nn [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]
[name_u]Willow[/name_u] nn [name_u]Willie[/name_u]
Eleni [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] nn [name_f]Leni[/name_f] is on my list. [name_m]Said[/name_m] like [name_u]Lenny[/name_u].
I also love [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]/Georgia nn [name_u]Georgie[/name_u], as opposed to [name_f]Gigi[/name_f], which I think is more popular in the States. I like the idea of [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] for a girl in theory, but the Welsh in me can barely stomach it for a girl, so I would use it as a nn, something like [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] or [name_f]Brynja[/name_f] nn [name_f]Brynn[/name_f].
I’m not a fan of most unisex names or masculine names on girls, so that’s about all I’ve got lol. Oh! I love [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] nn [name_u]Kit[/name_u] too.
