I’m not saying I would name any of my children these names, but I find them charming in their own right, and I wanted to know everyone else’s opinion on them.

So, WDYT?

[/ul]
So, WDYT?
[name]Eglantine[/name]- Reminds me of eggplant.
[name]Valentine[/name] (teen OR tyne for the ending?) or [name]Valentina[/name]- I really like [name]Valentina[/name], [name]Valentine[/name] is a bit cheesey to me.
[name]Jessamine[/name]- [name]LOVE[/name] it. It’s gorgeous.
[name]Clementine[/name] (I love this)- Too tied to “oh my darlin’” and the oranges.
[name]Amandine[/name]- It’s okay.
[name]Rosamund[/name]- Very clunky to me. I like just [name]Rose[/name].
[name]Camille[/name]- Very classy, solid choice. It’s familiar, but not at all common.
[name]Zinnia[/name] (is this pronounced zin-nee-ah or zin-ya?)- I say zin-nee-ah. And I like it.
[name]Lilac[/name]- I’m not a fear. It sounds kind of harsh, and I hear “I lack” too.
[name]Emmeline[/name]- Fantastic. The only thing I don’t like is that there are so many pronunciations (emma-Leen, [name]Line[/name], and [name]Lynn[/name])
[name]Bryony[/name]/[name]Briony[/name]- I hated it when I first heard it, but it’s really grown on me and I quite like it now.
[name]Rosalie[/name]- Beautiful. I like it much more than [name]Rosamund[/name].
[name]Scarlett[/name]- Not a fan. Very harsh sounding to me. I don’t like that it starts with “scar” and rhymes with “harlot.”
[name]Briar[/name] [name]Rose[/name]- Too sleeping beauty.
[name]Lily[/name]-[name]Rose[/name]- too many flowers in one name.
[name]Aislinn[/name]/[name]Aisling[/name]- I like it, but it kind of blends with the whole [name]Ashley[/name]/[name]Ashlynn[/name]/[name]Ashton[/name] family.
[name]Thalia[/name]- Pretty, but spelling might be difficult.
[name]Persephone[/name]- Too weighty for my taste. It seems like a ridiculously huge name for a real person to me.
[name]Guinevere[/name] (I used to [name]LOVE[/name] this name, but not so much anymore)- This is a bit over the top for me as well, but not nearly as much as [name]Persephone[/name].
[name]Genevieve[/name]- Beautiful!
[name]Eliana[/name] (I actually know of a girl with this name! But I think she spells it [name]Elianna[/name])- [name]Love[/name] it.
[name]Romilly[/name]- Eh. Not a fan, but I don’t know why.
[name]Gabrielle[/name] or [name]Gabriella[/name]- I like [name]Gabrielle[/name], nn [name]Brielle[/name], best. I don’t like [name]Gaby[/name].
[name]Tatiana[/name]- I love [name]Tatiana[/name], as well as nns [name]Tati[/name] and [name]Tiana[/name].
[name]Ginevra[/name]- It’s okay.
[name]Evangeline[/name]- [name]Ever[/name] since I saw the [name]Princess[/name] and the Frog, I’ve loved [name]Evangeline[/name].
[name]Mirabel[/name]- Gorgeous.
[name]Nicolette[/name] (I like this name, but it also makes me think of nicotine and cigarettes, which is weird)- I get the Nicotine/Cigarette association. I still think it’s a nice name though, and I’ve always thought [name]Cole[/name] would be a cute nn for [name]Nicole[/name], [name]Nicolette[/name], [name]Colette[/name], etc.
[name]Ariana[/name]/[name]Arianna[/name] -Kind of boring to me, I hear it a lot. But it’s a nice name.
[name]Violet[/name] or [name]Violette[/name] (French, pronounced vee-oh-let)- I love [name]Violette[/name] and [name]Violetta[/name], but not [name]Violet[/name]. It sounds too much like “violent” to me.
[name]Sylvie[/name]- I don’t like [name]Sylvie[/name], but I see the appeal.
[name]Viviana[/name] or [name]Vivienne[/name]- [name]Love[/name] them both, especially [name]Viviana[/name].
[name]Fabienne[/name]- Pretty. I think it could be an interesting route to [name]Abby[/name].
[name]Eglantine[/name] - I love this one, I probably wouldn’t have guts to name my child that, but I love the name nonetheless
[name]Valentine[/name] or [name]Valentina[/name] - I prefer [name]Valentine[/name]
[name]Jessamine[/name] - not my favorite
[name]Clementine[/name] - precious name
[name]Amandine[/name] - nice but not for me
[name]Rosamund[/name] - I love it.
[name]Camille[/name] - very nice, elegant name
[name]Zinnia[/name] - I pronounce it zin-ee-ya and I like it
[name]Lilac[/name] - it’s nice, but not for me
[name]Emmeline[/name] - cute
[name]Bryony[/name]/[name]Briony[/name] - I, for some reason, prefer [name]Briony[/name]. I really like the name.
[name]Rosalie[/name] - lovely name, I love it
[name]Scarlett[/name] - elegant and classy
[name]Briar[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - not for me
[name]Lily[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] - cute but not for me
[name]Aislinn[/name]/[name]Aisling[/name] - nice name
[name]Thalia[/name] - OK
[name]Persephone[/name] - I love the name
[name]Guinevere[/name] - it’s beautiful
[name]Genevieve[/name] - not my favorite
[name]Eliana[/name] - it’s nice, not my favorite
[name]Romilly[/name] - interesting, I strongly prefer simple [name]Romy[/name]
[name]Gabrielle[/name] or [name]Gabriella[/name] - I don’t care for this name
[name]Tatiana[/name] - OK
[name]Ginevra[/name] - I prefer [name]Guinevere[/name]…
[name]Evangeline[/name] - nice
[name]Mirabel[/name] - one of my all time favorites, something drags me to it. I love the name.
[name]Nicolette[/name] - strange what you’re noting about nicotine and cigarettes, because I can’t help but think about them, too
[name]Ariana[/name]/[name]Arianna[/name] - OK
[name]Violet[/name] or [name]Violette[/name] - I like both, prefer [name]Violette[/name]
[name]Sylvie[/name] - this one is so spunky and cute, I really like it
[name]Viviana[/name] or [name]Vivienne[/name] - [name]Viviana[/name] is a nice twist to the name, I love it
[name]Fabienne[/name] - I really like it, but I prefer the boys’ version, [name]Fabien[/name], on a boy
My favorites: [name]Eglantine[/name], [name]Rosamund[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Persephone[/name], [name]Mirabel[/name], and [name]Viviana[/name]
[name]Valentine[/name] (teen OR tyne for the ending?) or [name]Valentina[/name] - I still think of [name]Valentine[/name] as a male name, though one too feminine now to use, not that I’d want to in the first place.
[name]Jessamine[/name] - With [name]Jasmine[/name] too common for the past 20+ years, this has replaced it on my list. I’m not sure whether I prefer it to the various Y-forms of the name, though.
[name]Clementine[/name] (I love this) - I like “in” and “een” endings but hate “ein”.
[name]Amandine[/name] - And I think French ine “een” is my favorite. Interesting that it’s not a form of [name]Amanda[/name], and that makes it better in my eyes. I’m more a fan of names that are flowery to start with than adding extra final a’s and the like.
[name]Rosamund[/name] - Is this rose or roz?
[name]Camille[/name] - Like this, not the English version.
[name]Lilac[/name] (I like this and I don’t. I think it’s feminine and unusual and I also hear “I LACK” whenever I hear it) - The way I say it, I don’t stress the last syllable, so I don’t get that effect. I grew up surrounded by them. This feels like a natural name.
[name]Guinevere[/name] (I used to [name]LOVE[/name] this name, but not so much anymore). - Same here.
[name]Tatiana[/name] - Naturally, one of the first Russian names I grew to love. At that time, I wondered if Russian names were still considered weird in English. Then I found they now weren’t. Not that I don’t still like the first Russian names I caught on to - far from that - but I’ve increasingly paid attention to those that haven’t caught on as much in English. I’ve even managed to get past thinking of [name]Svetlana[/name] as awkward (yes, that was hard).
[name]Ginevra[/name] - Is this a hard or soft G? Either way, I’m not going to like it.
[name]Mirabel[/name] - One darling of this board that’s grown on me quickly.
[name]Nicolette[/name] (I like this name, but it also makes me think of nicotine and cigarettes, which is weird) - Again, I don’t easily make associations like that.
[name]Ariana[/name]/[name]Arianna[/name] - I’m not sure if I prefer [name]Arianne[/name]. Probably would, but for an Anglophone with my interests, the first association is with a rocket rather than a person. I’ll get over that.
[name]Violet[/name] or [name]Violette[/name] (French, pronounced vee-oh-let) - This is one case where I don’t prefer the French version. I wonder what it says that, over time, my taste for some of the stronger girls’ names I used to like has declined, while my taste for the cute has definitely increased? I don’t think it’s anything good…
[name]Sylvie[/name] - Unfortunately, there’s a running joke in my family concerning someone with this name. Aside from that, this is another case where I don’t prefer the French. From the other names I liked, I can imagine I would’ve liked [name]Sylvia[/name] around 10 years ago, but my tastes have changed.
[name]Viviana[/name] or [name]Vivienne[/name] - One from my V-phase that I still like.
[name]Fabienne[/name] - You’ll never get me to like a form of [name]Fabian[/name].
[name]Eglantine[/name] - I don’t really like the “Eg” beginning. I prefer [name]Evangeline[/name], [name]Emmeline[/name] or even [name]Coraline[/name]
[name]Valentine[/name] or [name]Valentina[/name] - [name]Valentine[/name] (ine) is best in the middle and [name]Valentina[/name] is ok (een).
[name]Jessamine[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this name and nn [name]Jessie[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name] - See [name]Jessamine[/name]
[name]Amandine[/name] - I don’t like the name [name]Amanda[/name] so this is not my cup of tea
[name]Rosamund[/name] - Like this name in the middle spot but prefer [name]Rosalind[/name] and [name]Rosemary[/name].
[name]Camille[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] this soft, feminine sound of this French name
[name]Zinnia[/name] - (pronounced zin-nee-ah ) - An exotic alternative to the more popular [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Lilac[/name] - Not a fan. [name]Lavender[/name] is better but only in the middle spot.
[name]Emmeline[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] it
[name]Bryony[/name]/[name]Briony[/name] - Like the [name]Briony[/name] spelling
[name]Rosalie[/name] - One of my fave “rose” names
[name]Scarlett[/name] - Not my style.
[name]Briar[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - Too trendy
[name]Lily[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] - Too many flowers
[name]Aislinn[/name]/[name]Aisling[/name] - Not my fave Irish name but it’s ok
[name]Thalia[/name] - I like this one a lot
[name]Persephone[/name] - Much prefer [name]Penelope[/name]. This really is too much of a name for most to pull off.
[name]Guinevere[/name] - OK
[name]Genevieve[/name] - OK
[name]Eliana[/name] - Too frilly for my taste
[name]Romilly[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this in the middle. It has a “happy” vibe to it.
[name]Gabrielle[/name] or [name]Gabriella[/name] - OK
[name]Tatiana[/name] - Nice
[name]Ginevra[/name] - Ok but depending on where you live, there may be pronunciation problems.
[name]Evangeline[/name] - One of my favourite names for a girl. Romantic and spiritual all rolled up in one!
[name]Mirabel[/name] - Like for the middle spot
[name]Nicolette[/name] - Not a fan as it reminds me of Nicorette gum to quit smoking
[name]Ariana[/name]/[name]Arianna[/name] - These names along with [name]Aria[/name] are just too frilly for me to take seriously
[name]Violet[/name] or [name]Violette[/name] (French, pronounced vee-oh-let)- Like both names and pronunciations
[name]Sylvie[/name] - Prefer [name]Sylvia[/name]
[name]Viviana[/name] or [name]Vivienne[/name] - Like [name]Vivienne[/name] better than [name]Viviana[/name]
[name]Fabienne[/name] - I like this French name and I’m not sure why.
[name]Eglantine[/name] (I didn’t start liking this until recently)- Not sure how to pronounce it. But beyond that it looks unappealing.
[name]Valentine[/name] (teen OR tyne for the ending?) or [name]Valentina[/name] - [name]Valentina[/name] by a long shot
[name]Jessamine[/name] - I love this name.
[name]Clementine[/name] (I love this) - This name has grown on me. I like it but I don’t love it.
[name]Amandine[/name] - [name]Just[/name] seems like it’s trying too hard.
[name]Rosamund[/name] - the mund ending is a little harsh.
[name]Camille[/name] - so pretty and elegant
[name]Zinnia[/name] (is this pronounced zin-nee-ah or zin-ya?) - I prefer [name]Linnea[/name]
[name]Lilac[/name] (I like this and I don’t. I think it’s feminine and unusual and I also hear “I LACK” whenever I hear it) - I think it would be amazing as a middle name. Like [name]Valentina[/name] [name]Lilac[/name] or [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Lilac[/name] so pretty
[name]Emmeline[/name] - I like it.
[name]Bryony[/name]/[name]Briony[/name] - I don’t get the appeal of this name.
[name]Rosalie[/name] - I like this name. I think it is sweet without being like [name]Rainbow[/name] sweet you know what I mean?
[name]Scarlett[/name] - This name is becoming so popular where I live. For that reason I’ve been put off from the name.
[name]Briar[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - I don’t like [name]Briar[/name]. [name]Rose[/name] is pretty don’t be afraid to use it as a first name. IDK why but it seems like [name]Rose[/name] kind of lost its first name luster for a while and has become an a-typical middle name.
[name]Lily[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] - don’t like the two flower names side-by-side as a sib-set maybe. But as one whole name no.
[name]Aislinn[/name]/[name]Aisling[/name] - I like it, but you’ll always have to correct spelling and pronunciation.
[name]Thalia[/name] - kind of pretty
[name]Persephone[/name] - I think this name takes the top spot as a lot of people’s guilty pleasure name. But I don’t get it.
[name]Guinevere[/name] (I used to [name]LOVE[/name] this name, but not so much anymore). - I like [name]Gwen[/name] or [name]Gwendolyn[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] - I love this name.
[name]Eliana[/name] (I actually know of a girl with this name! But I think she spells it [name]Elianna[/name]) - Pretty but I prefer [name]Elena[/name].
[name]Romilly[/name] - Meh… not anything spectacular.
[name]Gabrielle[/name] or [name]Gabriella[/name] - both pretty which is why they are both so popular.
[name]Tatiana[/name] - not a fan.
[name]Ginevra[/name] - not a fan.
[name]Evangeline[/name] - Classic, Gorgeous, stunning!!
[name]Mirabel[/name] - I like [name]Mira[/name] just on it’s own.
[name]Nicolette[/name] (I like this name, but it also makes me think of nicotine and cigarettes, which is weird) - yeah it’s pretty. Better than just plain [name]Nicole[/name].
[name]Ariana[/name]/[name]Arianna[/name] - I prefer [name]Arianne[/name]
[name]Violet[/name] or [name]Violette[/name] (French, pronounced vee-oh-let) - I like the english pronunciation and the spelling [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Sylvie[/name] - don’t like it.
[name]Viviana[/name] or [name]Vivienne[/name] - love both
[name]Fabienne[/name] - No I think the name is too masculine.
For the most part, I really like your nature-inspired, Francophonic list!

[/ul]
I will give my honest opinions:
[name]Eglantine[/name] - I just hear the word Egg…
[name]Valentine[/name] (teen OR tyne for the ending?) or [name]Valentina[/name] - I like it pronounced teen, not tine.
[name]Jessamine[/name] - I would like this pronounce meen not mine.
[name]Clementine[/name] (I love this) - I really can’t get past the sweet oranges!
[name]Amandine[/name] - sounds like an alcoholic beverage.
[name]Rosamund[/name] - I like it, but don’t love it.
[name]Camille[/name] - I don’t mind it, but not my favorite.
[name]Zinnia[/name] (is this pronounced zin-nee-ah or zin-ya?) - I always pronounce it zin-ee-ah. I like it but could see pronunciation issues.
[name]Lilac[/name] (I like this and I don’t. I think it’s feminine and unusual and I also hear “I LACK” whenever I hear it) - sounds ineffectual to me.
[name]Emmeline[/name] - I love and adore this name but it is too close to [name]Emily[/name] and [name]Emma[/name].
[name]Bryony[/name]/[name]Briony[/name] - I love this name. [name]Bryony[/name] looks made up but it is legit!
[name]Rosalie[/name] - I love this name. [name]Rosie[/name] is so sweet.
[name]Scarlett[/name] - I love [name]Scarlet[/name].
[name]Briar[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - Funny story with this name. My friend was considering [name]Briar[/name] and I jokingly said [name]Briar[/name] [name]Rose[/name] and she named her daughter it… I about died when I heard because she didn’t even see the connection!
[name]Lily[/name]-[name]Rose[/name] - I like [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] but not together… too floral.
[name]Aislinn[/name]/[name]Aisling[/name] - I love this but pronunciation issues are too great.
[name]Thalia[/name] - I love [name]Nathalia[/name] with the nickname [name]Thalia[/name].
[name]Persephone[/name] - I can’t get behind this as a legit name because of the pronunciation issues will go on forever.
[name]Guinevere[/name] - I like this, but the pronunciations would suck. Gwenavere is butchered but I could see it happening.
[name]Genevieve[/name] - I always pronounce it [name]Jen[/name]-a-veeve and [name]Jen[/name]-vee-ev in my head when I read it… annoying.
[name]Eliana[/name] Is this pronounced Ee-lee-ah-na? If so I love it.
[name]Romilly[/name] - I like it but it has a masculine feeling to it.
[name]Gabrielle[/name] or [name]Gabriella[/name] - I do have a love for [name]Gabrielle[/name]/a and it sounds like a friendly name.
[name]Tatiana[/name] - I loved this name growing up.
[name]Ginevra[/name] - I love [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name] names!
[name]Evangeline[/name] - Sounds way too long and effected to me.
[name]Mirabel[/name] - I love the name [name]Miriam[/name] so this just hitches a ride with that!
[name]Nicolette[/name] - can’t stand this name.
[name]Ariana[/name]/[name]Arianna[/name] - My nieces name is [name]Arianna[/name]. It does sounds a little [name]Arian[/name] to me.
[name]Violet[/name] or [name]Violette[/name] - I like it pronounced en francais but not with the extre te.
[name]Sylvie[/name] - can’t stand it.
[name]Viviana[/name] or [name]Vivienne[/name] - I like it, but I wouldn’t use it.
[name]Fabienne[/name] - Sounds like [name]Fabio[/name] to me.
My faves: [name]Emeline[/name], [name]Bryony[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Scarlet[/name], [name]Briar[/name], [name]Aislinn[/name], [name]Eliana[/name], [name]Gabrielle[/name], [name]Tatiana[/name], [name]Ginevra[/name], [name]Mirabel[/name] and [name]Violet[/name].
