I’m having trouble finding information on the origin of the name Fess. (As in Fess [name]Parker[/name], etc.) Is it a nickname for [name]Festus[/name] or [name]Phineas[/name] or something else? Is it an independent name with its own history? Or is it just made up?
I don’t know the origin of the name Fess. But I think it’s interesting that Fess [name]Parker[/name]‘s middle name was [name]Elijah[/name] or was it [name]Elisha[/name]? I will look it up on NNDB.
I’m back. Fess’ middle name was [name]Elisha[/name]. I wonder where Fess [name]Parker[/name]'s family was from.
From reading books about mountain people of [name]Tennessee[/name] and [name]North[/name] [name]Carolina[/name], I remember that a lot of them had unusual names such as Fess mixed with a biblical middle name. But I see on NNDB that Fess [name]Parker[/name] was born in [name]Fort[/name] [name]Worth[/name], [name]Texas[/name], not in the mountains of Tennesee.
I bet Fess is short for [name]Festus[/name]. Maybe it’s short for Confess!
