[name_f]Fflur[/name_f] is a Welsh name that I have recently discovered and I think I really like it! It apparently means flower but I can’t find that much about it and I’m pretty sure flower is blodau.
It’s pronounced Fleer
What do you think?
(pronunciation issues don’t bother me)
I don’t mind pronunciation and spelling issues nearly as much as some do, but to me this is very strange looking and sounding. I don’t like that it has flee in it, as in Flea even though it doesn’t sound like Flee. I also thought “Fleer – one who flees” when I read it even though that’s not the same prn (assume it rhymes with [name_f]Greer[/name_f]?).
There are so many beautiful Welsh names. This one doesn’t do it for me at all. Sorry.
Sorry, I guess my explanation of the pronunciation wasn’t very good. Yes, it kind of sounds like [name_f]Greer[/name_f]. It’s one syllable so doesn’t sound like the word fleer
[name_f]Fflur[/name_f] that rhymes with fear - mmmm…not my favorite. Like the nameberry above, I think there are so many other beautiful Welsh names I would prefer. Our maybe the [name_m]French[/name_m] [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]?
