Fill The Blank: Edmund _ Hugo

I’m still struggling with [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], none of the names I love seem to fit in as well as I’d like them to so I’m looking for suggestions.

  1. Fill the blank in either [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] _ or [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] _ [name_m]Hugo[/name_m].
  2. Nothing too out-there - [name_m]Atlas[/name_m], [name_u]Mars[/name_u], [name_m]Theobald[/name_m], etc. are not for me.
  3. Nothing too biblical - something along the lines of [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] or [name_u]James[/name_u] is fine, anything ending in -iah would be too much for me.
  4. The name shouldn’t be a variation of any of the names in my signature, so no [name_m]Charles[/name_m], no [name_m]Hank[/name_m], etc.
  5. I wouldn’t like [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_m]Robert[/name_m], etc. (if you see a pattern) nor would I want another E or H name or one that ends in -d.
  6. I had thought about Edmund Theodore Hugo and Edmund Hugo George, but I’m not sure about the -d Th- transition of the first one and I don’t love how the latter looks; still I’d appreciate some input on them.

Apart from that, any suggestions are welcome, even if you think I must have considered them before; If you think they flow well, go ahead and post them!

[name_f]TIA[/name_f] (though I’ll get back to you on the suggestions)

I don’t know if these are your style at all but I thought I’d try!

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Forest[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Walter[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] - This breaks the “no E” rule but I can’t help loving it.
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] - definitely more out there
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Julian[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Clark[/name_m]
Edmund Lewis Hugo
Edmund Hugo Gray

I think [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] is delightful. I don’t see a problem with the flow or how it looks. [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is definitely more of a mouthful, but not bad by any means. It’s very classy and handsome.

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Amias[/name_m]

[name_m]Victor[/name_m] was my first thought – [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Victor[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Julius[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Octavian[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]Brady[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Terrence[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Victor[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Francis[/name_u]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Joel[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Albert[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Stephen[/name_m]

Of your two possible combos up top, I like [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] best. Good luck!

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Leander[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Flavian[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]

I quite like [name_m]Oliver[/name_m], [name_u]August[/name_u] and [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], style-wise those were on-point yet with [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] I don’t seem to love them as much as on their own.

For me, [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] just has something that is slightly aesthetically displeasing to me, maybe it’s the short [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] that looks a bit like a placeholder between the other two? I’m not entirely sure, I do like the sound but haven’t come around to the look yet.
I do seem to like names that could be seen as mouthfuls as they tend to be long and have two middle names but if that’s all that’s off-putting, I’m okay with that.
Thank you for offering your opinion and suggestions!

I like the idea of [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] and [name_m]Phineas[/name_m]; [name_m]Alistair[/name_m] does add quite a British aristocrat vibe to the combo which I’m not sure of but it’s an interesting name and I’ll think a bit more about it, thanks!

I like [name_m]Victor[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] but honouring him that directly wouldn’t be something I’d like to do, I love both names though.

I had thought about [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] before but I just don’t love it enough, it does flow really well though and has the style I’m looking, [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] would be lovely but I have in another combo, I love the sound of [name_m]Julius[/name_m] in this combo but not the name itself (not for me anyway) and [name_m]Peter[/name_m], though it has been growing on me a lot (in certain English accents) might make the combo a bit too [name_f]Narnia[/name_f]-ish.
However, you still helped me a lot and I appreciate your input

I love [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] but I don’t love the flow of the combo with [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], thank you, though!

What do you think of these:
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Lucius[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Laurence[/name_u]/[name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Alric[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Byron[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Gale[/name_u]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Clement[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]

[name_m]Just[/name_m] thought of another combo -
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]

My first thought was [name_m]George[/name_m], actually.

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Casper[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Lucius[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Ernest[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hector[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]

The flow is difficult here.
I think perhaps, to put the names off to full affect, you might put [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] in first middle place, and then have a longer, equally grand name as second.
E.g.:

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Octavian[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Clement[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Percival[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] was my first thought, I was not the only one apparently, but I do prefer this spelling. I like vowel names the most following [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]'s clunky ending, but I’ll list some more ideas:

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]Oberon[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]Amory[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]Florian[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Llewelyn[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Barnabas[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Heath[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Vale[/name_u]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Frey[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Thorn[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Miles[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]Merle[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Jules[/name_u]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Corentin[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Leopold[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Hadrian[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Hezekiah[/name_m]

I know some of these stretch your requirements, but I wouldn’t suggest anything I didn’t think was wonderful… And I do think that after so many suggestions and probably a lot of trying on your own, it might be helpful to at least consider something a little out of your comfort zone…

Initial thoughts:

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Amaury[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Anders[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Artemas[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_f]Afton[/name_f]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Blaise[/name_u]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] Gratian [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Rasmus[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Fabian[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Samson[/name_m]

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] are two of my favourite names of all time - it makes it much harder that everything sounds good with them, unfortunately!

@jblack11
I quite like Lucius & Arthur and like the idea of Laurence though I don’t love the name itself; Lucius will go on the “considering” list, thank you!

Thank you for your input
I like the above, they’re also going on the “considering” list.
I think the problem I have with putting Hugo in the first middle name spot and therefore Edmund Hugo George is the look of the combo. When you look at my other combos, the pattern seems to be that either the first name or the second middle name seem to be shorter, if that’s not the case, then both middle names tend to be long and the difference isn’t as obvious.
In this combo, putting Hugo in the first name spot seems to, visually, squash him, it doesn’t give him the room to shine as much as I’d like.

I find the above to be intriguing, I currently have Augustin on my short list for names to go with this combo (Augustine is a female name to me), but then the pronunciation isn’t clear, I much prefer AU-gus-tin though au-GUS-tin seems to flow better/comes more natural in this combo.
I had considered Leopold, too, though in the first middle name spot, I didn’t love the double -d ending, in the second mn spot I have the same problem as with George, Hugo seems to be visually squashed between long names on both sides.

The problem with going out of my comfort zone is that I do think a lot of names and combos sound great but they don’t reflect who I am, I don’t mind them because they’re out-there (sounding) but because they have a certain vibes to me (e.g. Ignatius sounds like the child of a British history professor; Atlas has hipster parents, Bohemia’s parents wear flower crowns, maxi linen dresses and go barefoot everywhere) and I just cannot identify with those.

I like the style of the names above, though neither is the name. [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m] has the grandness I like though I much prefer [name_m]Aurelius[/name_m] to it, [name_m]Aurelius[/name_m], however, feels almost too grand, too emperor-like.
I like how classic [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] sounds but I don’t love the name itself. [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] doesn’t flow as well as I’d like (it would be three 2-syllable names in a row), [name_m]Rasmus[/name_m] has similar problems but I always thought it to be very intriguing, [name_m]Fabian[/name_m] has the simplicity I like, though the name itself is unusable for me because of a negative association.

And yes, a lot of names do sound brilliant with [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], the problem is finding one that I like for myself rather than for other people’s children.

I appreciate everyone’s input a lot, every suggestion, no matter if it is one I’d consider or one I wouldn’t, helps me determine what I want and what I do not; so thank you very much
