Filomena Soleil or Amalia Soleil?

These are the two names we keep coming back to for our second daughter. I’m half-Italian and my daughters will be raised bilingual just like I was, so we will be pronouncing [name_f]Filomena[/name_f] both Fill-oh-meena and [name_u]Fee[/name_u]-loh-men-ah.

We just really want to know what berries think of each name and why they prefer one over the other. Grazie mille!

I love [name_f]Amalia[/name_f]! [name_f]Filomena[/name_f] is pretty too, but will definitely stick out more if you’re in the US.

[name_f]Amalia[/name_f]! A beautiful choice.

I prefer [name_f]Filomena[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Alma[/name_f] [name_f]Coraline[/name_f] from your signature! [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] is sweet, too, though

[name_f]Amalia[/name_f] is just gorgeous and sounds wonderful with [name_f]Soleil[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Filomena[/name_f], but even though it’s a legitimate spelling, it looks wrong to me, as I’m so used to [name_f]Philomena[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f]!

[name_f]Amalia[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] is just stunning!

Both are beautiful, but I love the soft, strong, distinctive sound of [name_f]Filomena[/name_f]. [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] is a beautiful name but a little bit too similar to other names like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Amara[/name_f], [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Thalia[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] which are very much in favour at the moment. [name_f]Filomena[/name_f] just stands out that bit more to me, and the meaning is great (NB has it as “lover of singing”, but I’ve seen it more frequently as “lover/friend of strength” - I especially enjoy finding girls’ names with “strong” meanings). [name_m]Plenty[/name_m] of scope for nicknames, too.

[name_f]Amalia[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] is so gorgeous!!

I prefer [name_f]Filomena[/name_f] for its distinctiveness. [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] blends too easily with [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], etc.

Filomena Soliel has unique feeling, while Amalia is pretty, its combo is bland. Filomena all the way.

I love [name_f]Amalia[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Filomena[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] sounds better.

I prefer [name_f]Amalia[/name_f]. It’s lovely.

[name_f]Filomena[/name_f] is so stinkin’ cute!

Both are lovely but [name_f]Filomena[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] is more interesting. [name_f]Filomena[/name_f] was used to mean “nightingale” in Italian and Spanish medieval poetry, so there’s an interesting duality (nightingale/sun).

I prefer [name_f]Amalia[/name_f]

[name_f]Filomena[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] is gorgeous! [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] to me gets lost in the [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]/[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] crowd.

[name_f]Amalia[/name_f] is my favourite. I love it.

[name_f]Amalia[/name_f]! For sure! Italian names are some of my faves, [name_f]Amalia[/name_f], [name_u]Zola[/name_u], so many are so fabulous. Perhaps it’s the Italian in me! There is some there!

Like [name_f]Filomena[/name_f], (although it isn’t my usual style) however I [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] and [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] is such a gorgeous combination, I really love [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] as a middle.

So my vote is definitely for [name_f]Amalia[/name_f] [name_f]Soleil[/name_f]!
