After much discussion last night, DH decided that out of the names we both like (he has his heart set on [name]Evelyn[/name] but I don’t care for it), he only loves [name]Mia[/name], [name]Ella[/name], or [name]Emma[/name]. I love them too, but am admittedly nervous about their popularity. He said he could possibly start to love [name]Julia[/name]…but we’re running out of time! DH loves the MN [name]Juliet[/name] more than anything else I’ve suggested, so which name would you recommend we go with…
OR…hope he falls in love with [name]Julia[/name] [name]Claire[/name]! (He would probably agree to it, but he rated it a 3.5/5 and rated the other names a 4.5 or 5/5).
Of the three you have, I like [name]Ella[/name] best as a first name. [name]Julia[/name] is very pretty too, and would be my first choice if your husband was on board.
I like [name]Mia[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] the best. Waaaaaayyyyyy too many [name]Emma[/name]/Emilys out there. And [name]Ella[/name] has never sounded quite finished to me for some reason. Have you considered [name]Mira[/name]? [name]Mira[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] is gorgeous! And I love the meaning of [name]Mira[/name].
I know it’s popular but I love [name]Emma[/name] and it just never gets old to me. Classic, elegant and lovely. I also like it paired with [name]Juliet[/name]. Very sweet. My next choice would be [name]Ella[/name], then [name]Mia[/name]. All very nice tho. Could you guys compromise and do [name]Juliet[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name]? Thats really sweet too. You prob already thought of that, but just a suggestion.
Would he agree to a more formal first name for [name]Ella[/name] with the nn of [name]Ella[/name]? That way, if popularity is a problem, your daughter has options.
I agree with the above poster regarding [name]Emma[/name]. It’s classic, elegant, and lovely, no matter how popular it is. You could also choose a longer name for [name]Emma[/name] with the nn of [name]Emma[/name] – [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Emmaline[/name]/[name]Emmalyn[/name], something like that. [name]Emmalyn[/name] almost sounds like [name]Evelyn[/name]. LOL
Thank you everyone! I wish he would agree to a more formal name haha DH is super picky! He only likes popular names and thinks names ending in “[name]Ella[/name]” like [name]Gabriella[/name] which I love is “too fussy.” Yet he loves [name]Ella[/name]…go figure lol.
Theyre all lovely–
Id pick
[name]Emma[/name] first, then [name]Ella[/name], then [name]Mia[/name] …
But imo,
[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Juliette[/name] is loveliest–
you can call her [name]Evie[/name] (Ee-vee, although [name]Evelyn[/name] is quite beautiful)–
[name]Mia[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] is my favorite but I think [name]Ria[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] may be a better choice. It has the same adorable length but is sure to stand out. I also like the sound of [name]Rory[/name] [name]Juliet[/name], [name]Marley[/name] [name]Juliet[/name], and [name]Margo[/name] [name]Juliet[/name].
I wish you, baby, and hubby the absolute best! xoxo
[name]Amelia[/name] or [name]Emilia[/name] seem like a compromise between [name]Emma[/name], [name]Ella[/name] and [name]Mia[/name]…has sounds of all 3. [name]Amelia[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] could be really lovely.
I [name]DO[/name] really like all your choices, they’re just so popular!
Other suggestions:
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Gemma[/name]
[name]Leah[/name]
[name]Thea[/name] (Tee-uh, or [name]Tay[/name]-uh or Thee-uh)
[name]Lilah[/name]
[name]Zoe[/name]
I like [name]Ella[/name] [name]Juliet[/name]. While I like [name]Mia[/name] and [name]Emma[/name], [name]Mia[/name] has always seemed to lack a certain je ne sais quoi, and gorgeous as [name]Emma[/name] is, I still love [name]Ella[/name] more. [name]Ella[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] is very sweet; it seems very princessy to me (thanks to [name]Shakespeare[/name]'s [name]Juliet[/name] and the movie [name]Ella[/name] Enchanted).
I wouldn’t be too worried about popularity–I didn’t go to school with another [name]Ashley[/name] until I was a junior in high school, and I was born around its height of popularity. That, and [name]Ashley[/name] was used two times more than the most popular names are used these days, and the percentage of children receiving the top 1-2 names these days is dropping off by around a thousand each year. [name]Ella[/name], [name]Mia[/name], and [name]Emma[/name] are still popular, but their popularity isn’t rabid, really. I’ve done the math, and it averages out that there will be about 1 (if you’re lucky, MAYBE two) Sophias or Isabellas in each classroom, the number of Ellas born last year is almost only 1/3 of the number of Sophias (the number one girls’ name). Of course, the statistics for [name]Emma[/name] and [name]Mia[/name] will be a bit different, as they’re both more popular than [name]Ella[/name], but I wouldn’t be too quick to discount a popular name. Then again, as a shy kid, I loved having a popular name, haha. It made me feel like I fit in.
[name]Ella[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] is my favorite, but I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those three combos. They’re all lovely, and although they’re popular I honestly have only met one [name]Mia[/name] and one [name]Emma[/name], and I’m a teacher- neither of them were even in my class, they were the only ones in the school. Any of the three would be a beautiful name!
