Voted for Fiona Lilidh. I like Flora Ceit but I think that with Flora you need a long, flowing middle and the Ceit spelling of Kate confused me. Eilidh Grace isn’t my favourite though I love Eilidh! Fiona Lilidh is really very pretty. I also really like Fiona and Mhairi together.

Thanks! Appreciate the feedback, love hearing what initial reactions are b/c sometimes I get wrapped up in a name and think it sounds one way and don’t realize how it actually sounds to the outside world!!

I voted for [name]Eilidh[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. While it’s a bit “AY” heavy, I absolutely love [name]Eilidh[/name] and would love seeing it used! I think Mhairi and [name]Eilidh[/name] are adorable together.

Second choice would be [name]Fiona[/name] Lilidh for me. I love Lilidh, I don’t know why I’ve never heard it before you started posting about it, but I love it! I don’t love [name]Fiona[/name] (mostly prefer it as a MN, but it’s still lovely), but [name]Fiona[/name] Lilidh is gorgeous. I would love to see something like Lilidh [name]Madeleine[/name] or Lilidh [name]Matilda[/name]/Lilidh [name]Gabrielle[/name], too.

[name]Fiona[/name] Lilidh, it’s so gorgeous, and it’s quite different from Mhairi but still seem like they belong together. [name]Eilidh[/name] is lovely too.

I voted for [name]Fiona[/name] Lilidh, I think it’s beautiful  [name]Flora[/name] is beautiful too, but I don’t love it paired with [name]Ceit[/name]. And while [name]Eilidh[/name] is very pretty, I think it sounds a little matchy with Mhairi.

I think eilidh sounds lovely but may be mocked as eyelid, which is what I initially thought it was based on spelling.

I actually discovered Lilidh on this site by accident. I was going through old forum posts I think looking up the name [name]Isla[/name] and a member was named Lilidh, googled it and found it on a scottish name site as well. Thought it was such a pretty spelling but my husband doesn’t like it for a first name :frowning:

I vote [name]Eilidh[/name], but I’m still hanging on for [name]Eilidh[/name] [name]Matilda[/name]. I forget - does [name]Grace[/name] have special significance?

[name]Grace[/name] does have significance but it’s a stretch!! I desperately have been wanting to honour my grandfather/his family b/c I’m due right around what would’ve been his 100th bday (he died 20 years ago) but he was the most important person in my whole world. [name]Grace[/name] is the name of the church he belonged to ([name]Grace[/name] United). Lilidh is connection to his mother was [name]Lillian[/name]. [name]Flora[/name] was his sister’s name. So each name has some tie…but [name]Grace[/name] is def the biggest stretch haha

[name]Eilidh[/name] is beautiful. I’d suggest combining these and naming her [name]Eilidh[/name] [name]Fiona[/name].

@lavendyr - I actually love the connection to his church! My grandmother’s MN is [name]Grace[/name], which is one of the reasons [name]Grace[/name] is in my top combo, but I’ve been asked if I would consider an [name]Anna[/name] name instead, and the answer’s always no–while I feel they connect to her, [name]Grace[/name] connects to her in a way that [name]Hannah[/name] or [name]Anna[/name] or [name]Anneliese[/name] won’t–it not only is her MN, but it ties to the faith that we both share. If your grandfather’s faith/church was important to him, it might be a lovely connection!

Are you searching for other ways to honor him? Possibly a feminization of his name (FN or MN?), his birthstone/birth flower, or a hobby? A girls’ name he loved? That might be a bit less contrived than [name]Grace[/name], although [name]Grace[/name] is lovely!

Well that makes a difference  [name]Eilidh[/name] [name]Grace[/name] really is pretty and I say meaning trumps sibset a million to one! That said, if you’re open to more suggestions:

This might be a stretch, but the [name]December[/name] birth flower is narcissus/daffodil. I kind of think [name]Eilidh[/name] [name]Daffodil[/name] is really awesome. Extremely unexpected but not weird or goofy. [name]IMO[/name] at least.

Another thought. [name]December[/name]'s stone is turquoise, and I’ll be the first to admit it’s an unappealing middle. However, upon digging deeper, turquoise was chosen as the month’s stone for it’s color - blue. Guess what blue represents in Christianity, from most of the sources I’ve seen? [name]Eternity[/name], heaven, and [name]Christ[/name]'s eternal nature. I’ve even seen it described as heavenly grace  With that in mind:

[name]Eilidh[/name] [name]Mazarine[/name]
[name]Eilidh[/name] [name]Azure[/name]
[name]Eilidh[/name] [name]Blue[/name]

[name]Just[/name] some food for thought.

Thanks [name]Ashley[/name]! His name was [name]James[/name] [name]Albert[/name] so no feminizations I like! [name]Jim[/name] is my fav boys name though if we ever have a boy.

Thanks tk! I love the creativity. [name]Daffodil[/name] is sweet but my husband would die. He doesn’t like anything too different sadly! Going to think of the other ideas though!

[name]Jacqueline[/name] is a French feminization of [name]James[/name]/[name]Jacob[/name]. I also like [name]Jamesina[/name], [name]Jacobina[/name]/[name]Jacoba[/name]. Not as attractive as [name]Gabrielle[/name] or [name]Charlotte[/name] or something, but they might work. I like [name]Eilidh[/name] [name]Jacqueline[/name]. I hate the American pronunciation (jack-kwah-line), but I think the French one is very classy (ZHAHK-leen).

Or maybe you could use his initials? I don’t know if you have a “J” name on your top 10, but something like [name]Eilidh[/name] [name]Juliana[/name] [name]Abigail[/name] or something might be nice. Or even just [name]Juliana[/name] [name]Abigail[/name]/etc.

Haha, no worries. My husband would probably just laugh if I suggested [name]Daffodil[/name] to him. But then, he wanted our daughter’s middle name to be [name]Eowyn[/name] (nothing wrong with the name BTW, but just as eccentric as [name]Daffodil[/name] in it’s LOTRness). Although I will give him cred for liking [name]Marigold[/name].

[name]Flora[/name] is nms, and the pronunciation of Elidh sounds too much like [name]Kaylee[/name] (and other ends in aylee names) [name]Fiona[/name] Lilidh is gorgeous!

I read through the comments before voting because I too thought maybe we could find something based on his name over his sister’s name or his church since he remains to be so important to you. I can relate, on a couple levels. My firstborn, a boy, was due on my beloved pappy’s birthday, and he wanted me to name my son after him but I just didn’t love his name or it’s variants so I picked something Irish after my granny (his wife and my namesake), and promised him I would name my girl something Italian in his honor. I not only kept my promise but went one further, once this baby is born then all of my girls will have Italian names

So maybe you can work his heritage into the name and that could open other possibilities. If you’re still looking that is. I voted for [name]Fiona[/name] Lilidh by the way. [name]Fiona[/name] is so gorgeous! I love [name]Lily[/name], but would never have guessed that is how you pronounced Lilidh. I have a really difficult time trying to decipher Irish/Scottish names in their traditional spellings. I mean I’m taking a stab in the dark in thinking Mhairi is [name]Mary[/name]? If it is, then I have to say I think I prefer [name]Flora[/name] [name]Ceit[/name] in a sibset with [name]Mary[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], no matter how pretty I think [name]Fiona[/name] is!

[name]Just[/name] today I began liking [name]Flora[/name]. So it got my vote! I do like [name]Fiona[/name] too though. I also think [name]Ceit[/name] is a fun and spunky middle name.
