[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all - I’m very pregnant, sore, hormonal, and sad that we don’t have an agreed and shared loved name. Here is our list - what do you think, how would you rank them, say? Thank you!!
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (I want to use the full version as much as possible because it’s that name which I love, although most shortenings apart from [name_f]Evie[/name_f] are nice.)
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (would like to use [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] quite frequently)
Here’s my rank:
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - Such a gorgeous name! It sounds like a name fit for a princess.
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - Super cute! I think [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] could be the name you’re looking for.
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] - I prefer [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] sounds a bit childish to me.
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] - I’m not a fan of the sound.
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is really sweet too. I love the nickname [name_u]June[/name_u]. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] would be adorable.
I will put them in order of favourite to least favourite.
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]!!! I think it is sooo gorgeous and timeless. Feels very light and flowly. Very beautiful.
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] - [name_f]Cora[/name_f] has been growing on me lately, I think it is a lovely uncommon but known name (at least where I am) and [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] is seems very fresg and lovely.
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] - Short, sweet, simple and classic! I find this more of a cutesy name even though it is a classic. I havent met anybody with the name, so that is probably why I have a hard time seeing it on an adult. But, it is cute.
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - I do love the nickname [name_f]Tilly[/name_f], very cute, but [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] has never really been my style. I have never found the like/love for it. To me just feels like one of those names that are too old to be on a baby/child. Perhaps because I know plenty of elderly women with the name. But, anyways, just isn’t a name I personally like… Nothing wrong with it though.
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] - I have this on my GP list. But, it isn’t an actual name I could ever see myself loving to use, unless it was for a pet. Maybe because I never met someone with the name, but it isn’t something I could see on a lawyer or a doctor.
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] - Definitely NMS. As well as, not a real fan of names starting with “O” for a girl myself.
All names are lovely!
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] - My favorite. It’s unique but with a sweet sound and the stone itself is beautiful. I met an [name_f]Opal[/name_f] once and the name felt really natural and not weird at all on her.
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this, though if you’re in the UK it might be too common. [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is adorable!
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] - It’s a lovely name but I don’t think you can completely avoid [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. Would you mind it if her friends called her that?
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] - [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]'s sweet though I personally feel like something is missing. Maybe because I’m more used to [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]. Definitely not a bad name though, it’s so interesting and cool!
By the way, I don’t think [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is faddy at all. It’d be a cool middle name if your husband won’t agree to it as a first!
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is probably my favourite of those names, though very likely to be nicknamed “[name_f]Evie[/name_f]” or “[name_u]Angie[/name_u]” so if you don’t like those I would recommend against it. Personally I love [name_f]Evie[/name_f] as a nickname. Second choice of your list would probably be [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], it’s nice and traditional but not too common.
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] is okay, but I definitely prefer [name_f]Cora[/name_f] or [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]. [name_f]Opal[/name_f] doesn’t appeal to me at all, and I think it’s a bit hippie-ish. Also doesn’t have much nickname potential, should your child want to go by something else, whereas all the other names on your list can be nicknamed quite easily to fit your daughter’s personality if needed!
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] is getting popular, even though it’s very sweet. I don’t disagree that [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is sort of faddy, but I don’t think that it’s going to get super common . It is rising very quickly up the SSA popularity charts though. Sooo, it’s just up to you how much that bothers you. It’s a super fun name, for what it’s worth.
Here is my ranking of the final final list:
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]-This is lovely. It has such a fun & cheery sound, but it doesn’t sound too cutesy either. It’s certainly not popular, & it’s also not overly complicated. [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is kind of popular, but that shouldn’t be an issue since they’re totally different names. The nn [name_f]Cora[/name_f] is cute though.
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]-This is fun. It’s certainly unique, yet short & simple too. It has a great vintage feel, but is cute & unexpected on a little one.
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]-I like it. It doesn’t sparkle as much, but it’s a good solid & pretty name. I prefer the nn [name_f]Millie[/name_f], but [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is fun too.
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] -I’m in the minority, but this is the only one that I don’t care for. It just has such a strong religious connection, & maybe that’s why you like it. But I can’t think of anything else other than evangelists. And avoiding the nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] could be tricky.
My feeling is DP won’t be completely happy with [name_f]Opal[/name_f].
I was hoping with [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], I could maybe use [name_f]Linny[/name_f]/[name_f]Lena[/name_f] - I know [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is probably unavoidable, but I’d just try to introduce her by her full name as much as poss…
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is a beautiful name! It was the runner up for my daughter’s name actually. We didn’t go with it in part because I was concerned about its popularity but it depends where you’re from… I don’t think it’s too popular in the States (?). [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] is also gorgeous and whilst I think it is trending a bit at the moment I’d still consider using it. The nickname options are just so good and it’s such a sweet sounding name. I also love just [name_u]June[/name_u] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f]. Your other names are lovely but for me these are the two clear winners. Third would be [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (BTW, if it makes you feel better I know a little girl with a four syllable name that could easily be shortened who is only ever called by her full name, so it is possible).
[name_f]EDIT[/name_f]: [name_m]Just[/name_m] saw you are from the UK. I imagine [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is fairly popular there, too? It’s really skyrocketed where I’m from (Australia).
I love all your options! [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is by far my favourite though. [name_f]May[/name_f] I also suggest the name of one my sons old classmates: [name_f]Evangelia[/name_f]
It is pronounced the same but with “[name_f]Lia[/name_f]” on the end, I always thought it was so pretty!
This is hard! I like all of them. You really can’t go wrong.
Here’s my rank…
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] (Really like the nn [name_f]Junie[/name_f])
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] “[name_f]Tilly[/name_f]”
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] (Like it as a nn for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f])
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
