I am not fond of [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] or [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] at all. So my vote goes to [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]. Although I prefer [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Silvan[/name_m] over [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Gregory[/name_m].
I love the new/renewed addition of [name_m]Leopold[/name_m], but my vote still goes to [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] for its sweet, subtle link to your other son’s name and the fact that it’s an awesome, underused choice which sounds great with [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] is awesome and underused too, for now, but I have it pegged to rise sharply on the back of [name_m]Leo[/name_m]'s popularity and the renewed interest in old-fashioned, clunky-cool names with cool, current nicknames.
I’m just not a fan of [name_m]Gregory[/name_m], sorry, though I like your reasons for considering it.
Yay, I’m glad you liked my suggestion of [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] (or that my suggestion reminded you that you liked it)! That’s definitely my favorite, and I love that [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] inspired your husband to be an English teacher (I am one, too!) and [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] Bloom is of course the protagonist of that novel. All of your reasons for your names are lovely, actually, but [name_m]Gregory[/name_m], while a nice name, is a bit boring, and [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] is far too dark and Gothic-sounding for me; the mor- prefix just signifies “death” to me and words like mortician and mortuary.
I voted for [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] but [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] is a close second! I totally agree with @[name_f]Kristin[/name_f] of kerrytown about the name [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m], it sounds dark to my ears too.
Thank you, everyone! Over our annual [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]'s dinner, we discussed all three options, weighing the pros and cons of all three combos, and we’ve finally decided on a winner that we both actually [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]. And that winner is… drumroll [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Leopold[/name_m]! Thank you again, @kristin of kerrytown, for reminding us of how much we loved that name. DH loves the connection to the novel that inspired his career, and I just love the name in general and how it sounds with our other children’s names.
Congratulations on finding THE name.
Here’s to a quick, healthy delivery.
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] is a dashing choice. I’m glad you found something that you both love. Congrats!
I really like the idea of [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] but I can’t shake how perfect [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] sounds. It fits is best with your other children’s names and I like the regal vibe I get from it. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps
My instinct was [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_m]Leopold[/name_m], but the story behind [name_m]Mordechai[/name_m] and your other son’s middle is too sweet to resist!
