[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u]
So would you call [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] “[name_u]Scout[/name_u]” instead? I would just name them what you want to call them, to avoid confusion. Everyone I know raised by their middle name has a lot of pain in the butt stuff to deal with forever.
Both are really cute with [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]! [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f].
We would probably call her [name_u]Scout[/name_u] if it fits. We decided to put it in the middle place so that if she feels more like an [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] we’ll just call her that. And/or if she decides she’d prefer to go by her first name when she’s older/ applying for jobs, etc it will be easy for her to do so!
Both of your name choices are sweet! I love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] though and with the nn you love as a middle it seems perfect for your daughter. [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u] would be my second choice.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], but not if she will go by [name_u]Scout[/name_u]. If you call her [name_f]Fiona[/name_f], I would choose that. The same with [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. That would be my vote if she went by [name_f]Eliza[/name_f].
I absolutely [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] both-I couldn’t decide! I voted for [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] but I truly love [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] just as much!
You have a tough decision!
Can’t wait to see what you choose:)
I voted for [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u]! [name_u]Scout[/name_u] is a wonderful nn. I actually have to disagree with my fellow posters. I was called a shortened version of my first name but prefer a shortened version of my middle name. At 14 I managed to convince my family to try to call me that but it lasted for only a week because I’d been called the nn too long. Maybe the kid would prefer to be called [name_u]Scout[/name_u] over [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. We have no way of knowing, so we should not assume. I would use what your heart thinks is right.
Thanks for voting! It’s close. We’ll probably wait and see…
LOVING [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u]! [name_u]Scout[/name_u] as a nickname is adorable!
I seriously love both combos. Very nice names together and also with [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. However taken as a whole with your surname I voted for [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_f]Grier[/name_f]. [name_u]Scout[/name_u] is lovely and strong but struck me instantly as strangely and unfortunately “wordy” with your last name - scout more head
I love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u]. Both my mum and my mother-in-law have always gone by their middle names. Everyone calls them by their middles, and they just use their full names for official documents.
Yes, it seems like it would be easy enough!
Voted [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u]- same experience with using middles - it can be all good - and [name_u]Scout[/name_u] could be just a gorgeous nickname anyway-even lovelier being her actual name, should she embrace if more of the 2 names when she is older.
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_f]Grier[/name_f] is equally lovely. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u] has appealing intonation and contrast that gives it some X factor but I am sure you are happy with both combos.
Very best wishes for a healthy and safe birth.
Thank you all for voting & for your helpful feedback!
This has definitely crossed our minds!! It’s basically like a sentence which is a bummer. But her name would be [name_u]Scout[/name_u]. And then if she said her full name it would be [name_u]Scout[/name_u] Moorehead. We wouldn’t emphasize [name_u]Scout[/name_u]. More. Head. of course. But still…. is it too weird?
My husband is DEFinitely a little wary of it being too much like an unfortunate sentence (which is why we haven’t used [name_u]Scout[/name_u] yet) but I kinda think it’s just fine. [name_u]Scout[/name_u] has actually been on our list for all three girls but we haven’t used it yet for this reason. But I just kinda think it’s fine! Our last name is unfortunate no matter what name we use and if kids want to tease they will, regardless of her name. If it poses a problem, she could always use [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]….? BUT…
Would [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] input from others!! Is the name [name_u]Scout[/name_u] with our last name a deal breaker?
I voted for [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] but both of those names are awesome.
I think [name_u]Scout[/name_u] Moorehead is perfectly fine and actually cool and funky (in a good way!) I love the combo of [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u] ([name_f]Grier[/name_f] just isn’t my style) and I love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u] Moorehead which I voted for. either way I hope the birth goes well and look forward to hearing what name you choose for baby Moorehead!
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f] [name_f]Grier[/name_f] by a mile
