We STILL haven’t decided on a name for our girl and I am due [name_u]August[/name_u] 16th! We are considering waiting to name her until she arrives. Have any of you ladies done that? Thanks to everyone’s help we have narrowed down to 10! (I know, I know. That’s still quite a few) our last name is [name_m]Jones[/name_m] by the way. Thanks so much to everyone that replies xx
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] (I don’t know why but I can just picture us with a little [name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]!)
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] as a NN for this.
[name_u]Eden[/name_u] (on the fence about this one since we are not religious and the obvious religious connections that come with this name, what do you think?)
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] - [name_f]Evie[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] - [name_f]Gem[/name_f]/[name_f]Em[/name_f]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] - I love Haddy! I was called [name_f]Maddy[/name_f] throughout my childhood so I think that would be cute.
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] (loving the name [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] with the NN [name_f]Lily[/name_f]-[name_f]Belle[/name_f]!)
[name_f]Maeva[/name_f] - [name_f]Mae[/name_f] (pronounced [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] with an A at the end. I adore this name!)
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] - [name_f]Lettie[/name_f]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] - sounds a little grinding with [name_m]Jones[/name_m], there’s no air or lightness to the combo.
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] - has lovely flow with [name_m]Jones[/name_m], but just makes me think of [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f] - is a keeper, lovely with [name_m]Jones[/name_m]. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is a lovely nickname
[name_u]Everly[/name_u] - I’m not into this, I dislike surname-names
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f] - I like the alliteration, but with [name_m]Jones[/name_m] it also lacks air like [name_u]Arden[/name_u]. Still a better pick than [name_u]Arden[/name_u] though.
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] - much like [name_u]Everly[/name_u], I’m not into this.
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] - Although I love [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] sounds a little mundane? [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] is a little mre intriguing.
[name_f]Maeva[/name_f] - this is my favourite, such a distinctive name! I love the sophisticated feel with [name_m]Jones[/name_m] ^^
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] - Sounds lovely with [name_m]Jones[/name_m], and I adore [name_f]Lettie[/name_f]. Not a personal favourite, but a good choice.
Top 3
[name_f]Maeva[/name_f]
[name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] are also nice choices. I would personally steer clear of [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_u]Everly[/name_u] and [name_u]Arden[/name_u].
Suggestions:
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] or [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]
[name_f]Garnet[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] or [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] or [name_f]Luna[/name_f] (both nn [name_f]Lulu[/name_f])
[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m]! Runner-up would be [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m]… both are very sweet!
[name_f]Cora[/name_f] is my favorite but it’s a little too short for [name_m]Jones[/name_m] (and I agree that it sounds too much like [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m]). I will suggest the more substantial [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] (cora-lee). You can call her [name_f]Cora[/name_f].
We had our son’s name picked out during the pregnancy. We also found out the sex as soon as we could. We are planners …
I adore [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is beautiful. I like [name_u]Everly[/name_u], I think it could grow on my even more. [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is adorable. I slightly prefer [name_f]Evvie[/name_f] (EV-ee). [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] “[name_f]Evie[/name_f]” or “[name_f]Evvie[/name_f]” is beautiful and sweet. I also like [name_u]Eden[/name_u]. I would not worry about the religious connection. My least favorite are [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], followed by [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]. I find [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] to have a very unpleasant sound.
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is beautiful.
Otherwise I like, in order…
[name_f]Scarlet[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Cora[/name_f]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
My Personal Top 4
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]- [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] sounds perfect
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]- [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nn [name_u]Ari[/name_u]/Ardie, [name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] sounds cute, but a little masculine fro me
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]- [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_u]Everly[/name_u] ([name_f]Evie[/name_f]) [name_m]Jones[/name_m] is so cute
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]- [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] (aka [name_f]Lily[/name_f]-[name_f]Belle[/name_f]) is adorable. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] sounds a little short to me, but that’s okay.
Suggestion
[name_f]Emberly[/name_f]- Sounds like [name_u]Everly[/name_u], and has cute nn options, like [name_f]Em[/name_f], [name_f]Emmy[/name_f], [name_u]Ember[/name_u], ect. [name_f]Emberly[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] has a cool, nature-y feel to me
My favorite 2 are [name_u]Arden[/name_u] and [name_u]Everly[/name_u]
I’d also suggest [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] since you love the nick name Haddy for [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] and its sound has special meaning with your childhood nick name.
If you do wait to name her, I would narrow it down to a top 3. With my son, I had one name I was pretty certain of and two backup options in case it didn’t seem to fit. If you have too many options, you might just be overwhelmed.
I like [name_u]Arden[/name_u], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] and [name_f]Maeva[/name_f].
[name_f]Maeva[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] sounds very sweet. This is my number one.
[name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] is obviously unisex so I don’t have a clear picture.
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] is the same but I like how it sounds.
I know many people (especially name nerds) who go into the delivery room with 3-4 options and select the one that suits the baby best after birth. Going in with 10 would be overwhelming just after giving birth.
I like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] and [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] the most.
Your list is almost the same as mine except the last few but [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] is my sister and lily is my oldest kids nn. I love [name_u]Arden[/name_u] but it sounds a bit masculine with your last name but it’s still nice. [name_f]Maeva[/name_f] would b mistaken for [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] constantly. I wouldn’t use eden if u aren’t religious. I’m not fond of the g/j sound together. I like the suggestion of coralie.
