After 6 years, 4 mischievous boys, 3 pregnancies, and too much testosterone for a woman to bear, I’m finally going to be welcoming a little girl!
But, seeing as I’m so used to having boys, I’ve neglected to choose a girl name and now that we’re almost 7 months in with no name, my husband and I have decided that we defiantly need to find that perfect one.
We’re struggling.
My hubby loves, loves, loves traditional names, while I love unique names - so that when you call their name at the playground, they’re the only one that comes running. I don’t want super weird names though - I’d prefer not to scar my baby girl forever.
My name is [name_u]Allison[/name_u] “[name_f]Ally[/name_f]” [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], my husband is [name_m]Matt[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], and our sons are: [name_m]Timothy[/name_m] “[name_m]Tim[/name_m]” [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m], twins [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] “[name_u]Alex[/name_u]” [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] “[name_m]Ben[/name_m]” [name_u]Michael[/name_u].
(The second name with each of those being their middle names.)
We already have a middle name for her ([name_f]Diana[/name_f]).
The only name we can really agree on is [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] (call her [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]) but that was decided before the new little [name_f]Princess[/name_f] was born and I feel like everyone is going to be naming their daughters after her. (Plus [name_f]Diana[/name_f] is also one of the [name_f]Princess[/name_f]’ middle names - [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and I must think alike.)
If anyone, anyone at all, could pitch some ideas, that would be great!
I agree with you that [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f] would be too much.
You could go with a variant of [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], like [name_f]Charlize[/name_f], [name_f]Charlene[/name_f], [name_f]Carlotta[/name_f], but they’re not really the same feel.
Or with a classic, regal, but underused, name:
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Jacqueline[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Veronica[/name_f]
[name_f]Virginia[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] (or the spunkier [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], or the rarer [name_f]Beate[/name_f] (bee-ah-teh)
[name_f]Alexandrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Maude[/name_f]
[name_f]Blanche[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] with your boys names, but do agree that [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f] is a bit too similar. I also think your boys names are EXTREMELY classic, so I would go along the same lines for a girl…
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] “[name_f]Letty[/name_f]”?
I think [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f] is fine. Honestly, just because [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] named her daughter [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] doesn’t mean that has to be everyone’s association with the name for the rest of time. If I heard the name [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f], a princess in a country that I don’t even live in, is never going to be my first thought. I also highly doubt anyone who knows you believes you are trying to replicate the name. I think [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is absolutely gorgeous and I say go for it.
Some that have already been mentioned but here it goes
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f] -[name_f]Rose[/name_f] is often used as a middle name but it’s pretty as a first name too.
[name_f]Christina[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Maria[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Nia[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Edith[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Carolina[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_u]Kelley[/name_u] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Diana[/name_f]
That’s alot I know but it might give you some ideas.[name_m]Even[/name_m] if you decide to go with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Diana[/name_f] .It’s very pretty and if you want it I don’t see a problem with going with it but if you feel like you don’t that’s good too it what you and your family feel comfortable with that counts.
All of your boys have very clean (no frills and no alternate spellings) and classic/down to earth (e.g. [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] instead of [name_m]Benton[/name_m]) names. They are also all Biblical. Including every one of their middles, and even your husband’s name. So, I would give your girl a name in that style, or as close to it as possible. She will be distinct in a house of boys due to just being a girl! So I wouldn’t choose a name ending in “ia” “ina” or elle, ella, bella, or belle. I like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] because it’s a strong, classic name that doesn’t have those common “frills”. With [name_f]Diana[/name_f] I agree it’s just too much “[name_f]Princess[/name_f]” right now, unfortunately.
[name_m]Tim[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_m]Ben[/name_m] and
