Whew…Thanks to everyone that has seen my posts and helped me debate over the past two months between [name]Viola[/name] & [name]Scarlett[/name]. It was so nice to have an area to brainstorm. My husband and I have finally decided on [name]Scarlett[/name]. We will be sad to say goodbye to sweet [name]Viola[/name], but we just had too many reasons why it wasn’t working; Mix up with pronuciations, instrument association instead of flower, friend that has daughter [name]Violet[/name] and would use same nn, select friends and family we told liked [name]Scarlett[/name] better, few people that associated it with Spanish - to violate (although, i don’t think that this is the case for the majority of Spanish, French, or Italian speakers in case you are debating the name), etc…
Anyway, I feel very relieved to come to a decision and am very excited about the name! I think it is very decadent, sophisticated, bold, and glamorous! It is more popular than I wanted at first, but overall it is still in the top 200 which is not a name that will be overly saturated… like the names on the top 20 list. It goes well with my son’s name - [name]Julian[/name] and has a Grateful Dead connection. As I mentioned, I would never call myself a hippie but love the dead for their american, rootsy, nature inspired songs.
Now, I just need to settle on a middle name. Take a look below and let me know what you think. Some of you will notice that I have kept some of your suggestions. As you can see (and may already know) - [name]Lee[/name], [name]Ruth[/name], [name]Ilene[/name], and [name]Elaine[/name] are family names that would be wonderful to incorporate. Our last name is very long. It has 5 syllables and starts with a french name starting with “De”. Blankblank-BlankBlankBlank. Therefore, I tend to think a one syllable name might go better eventhough I tend to like longer names.
Names with family connection:
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Lee[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Leia[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Ruthia[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Ruthina[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Annalee[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Rosalee[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Ilene[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Elaine[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Elaina[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Liana[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Ila[/name] (found this as a form of [name]Ilene[/name])
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]June[/name] (grandma was born in [name]June[/name]…stretch for a family tie. But, better than nothing)
Names with no family connection:
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Eve[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Viola[/name] (is this bad b/c of instrument connection?)
What about [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Eliana[/name] or [name]Scarlett[/name] ”liane?
They aren’t direct forms of [name]Elaine[/name], but like [name]Elaine[/name] they both come from the Greek ‘helios’.
[name]Hi[/name], I’m so glad you decided on [name]Scarlett[/name], and you sound happy with the decision! I realize, [name]Julian[/name] and [name]Scarlett[/name] sound so cute together! (Better than [name]Julian[/name] and [name]Viola[/name].) As for mns, you have some great choices.
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Lee[/name] is adorable–nice to have family connection, and especially with your long last name. It’s really spunky and strong, flows well, and nice contrast. I also like the name [name]Rosalie[/name], and [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] sounds sweet. But maybe too long?
For the non-family names, I like [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]May[/name] or [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Jane[/name].
But my favorite is [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Lee[/name] because of the significance, whereas [name]May[/name] or [name]Jane[/name] feel more random.
Congratulations on arriving at [name]Scarlett[/name], [name]Kitty[/name]! I think it’s gorgeous…
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Lee[/name]: When I saw [name]Scarlett[/name] followed by “[name]Le[/name],” I thought of The [name]Scarlett[/name] Letter. (It’s probably just me, but I thought I’d mention it…)
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Leia[/name]: I prefer your options that don’t begin with L with [name]Scarlett[/name].
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]: I think this is pretty…
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Ruthia[/name]: I’d personally stick to [name]Ruth[/name]…
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Annalee[/name]: I can unfortunately see [name]Annalee[/name] being mispronounced as “Anally.”
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name]: I think this is really pretty…
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Rosalee[/name]: I think this is pretty, too, but I’m a “[name]Rosalie[/name]” fan.
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Ilene[/name]: I prefer some of your other choices…
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Elaine[/name]: Ditto…
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Elaina[/name]: I think this is very pretty…
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Liana[/name]: I really like [name]Scarlett[/name] with some of your other choices…
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Ila[/name] (found this as a form of [name]Ilene[/name]): At first I thought it was a typo of [name]Isla[/name], but I do think it’s pretty.
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]June[/name]: I think this is stunning!
Names with no family connection:
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Eve[/name]: I really like this…
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Viola[/name]: While I never thought of the instrument when you were considering [name]Viola[/name] as a first name, I have to admit that I did think of it here. I think it’s pretty, though!
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]May[/name]: I [name]LOVE[/name] this!
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Belle[/name]: I think it’s pretty, but it’s a bit on the “Gone With The Wind” side for me…
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]: I love [name]Pearl[/name], but with [name]Scarlett[/name], I’d personally avoid nouns in the middle.
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Jane[/name]: I love this !
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Opal[/name]: I personally wouldn’t use nouns with [name]Scarlett[/name].
From your choices, I’m voting for [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]June[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name], and [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]May[/name].
Thanks everyone for the well wishes and feedback. I do feel better now that I have a name.
Right now “[name]June[/name]” is one of the options that my husband and I can both agree on (although definitely not set in stone yet). [name]Do[/name] you think it is ok to have a [name]Julian[/name] [name]Ryder[/name] and a [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]June[/name]?
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] Also liking it!
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Jane[/name] Another winner
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Opal[/name] This one I’m just neutral on
My favorites: [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Ilene[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]June[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Eve[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Belle[/name], [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] and [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. I think the nouns are cool!
I think I like [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Eve[/name] the best!
[name]Hi[/name], [name]Michelle[/name]! [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]June[/name] is really pretty, love it!

I agree…I really like [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]June[/name]! I think it is Definitley okay to have a [name]Julian[/name] [name]Ryder[/name] with [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]June[/name]. [name]How[/name] often do you really use their middle names?
I agree that with a super long last name a short mn is best. I like june or ruth for mn. To me [name]Julian[/name] and [name]June[/name] are totally different names.
