So we are getting closer to settling on a name, which is great because baby is closer to arriving!! Our newest idea may do everything we want it to do. And, I do think i’ve had somewhat unrealistic expectations of a name, haha! We have loved the name [name]Betty[/name] all along, which is the full name of my dear aunt. However, it has felt a little too nicknamey to me, and nameberries have agreed. So then the natural first name would be [name]Elizabeth[/name], which I just don’t love. We seemed to be at an impasse until we came across [name]Lilibeth[/name]. This name is so pretty and sweet and unique yet recognizable. It includes [name]Beth[/name], which is my husband’s late mother’s full first name, so we love that. In total the name will honour 4 people: the above mentioned [name]Betty[/name] and [name]Beth[/name], as well as a great-grandma [name]Louise[/name] and a dear friend of the same name. Yeah!! Also love all the other nn potential. We can call the baby [name]Lil[/name]-[name]Betty[/name] to differentiate her from grown up [name]Betty[/name]. Also, Littlebit comes to mind as well. So cute.
So to reiterate, the name we are falling in love with is [name]Lilibeth[/name] [name]Louise[/name] [name]Jordan[/name], nn [name]Betty[/name].
What do you nameberries think? Is the flow okay? I don’t mind the alliteration, especially keeping in mind that she will be [name]Betty[/name] [name]Jordan[/name] for all intents and purposes. Are there any glaring issue with the name we’ve overlooked? This name only came to us yesterday, but we reall think it might be THE ONE!!
To be honest, [name]Lilibeth[/name] sounds even more cutesy than [name]Betty[/name]. I can’t imagine a 40-year-old [name]Lilibeth[/name]-- to me, it’s either all nickname or name for a pet rabbit. [name]How[/name] about [name]Bethany[/name], [name]Betrys[/name], [name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Beatrix[/name], [name]Elisabet[/name], Annabeth, Betony, or [name]Lisbet[/name] nicknamed [name]Betty[/name]? I think even going by two nicknames-- [name]Elizabeth[/name] nicknamed [name]Lilibeth[/name] nicknamed [name]Betty[/name]-- would work, and that way she would have a more sophisticated option for later in life but a number of cute nicknames.
If you love [name]Lilibeth[/name] [name]Louise[/name] [name]Jordan[/name] and it’s a name that honours numerous people in your family, then go for it! FYI-The late [name]Princess[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] [name]Rose[/name] of [name]England[/name] couldn’t pronounce her older sister [name]Elizabeth[/name]'s name when she was young so she called her “[name]Lilibet[/name]”. [name]Even[/name] today, all those close to the present [name]Queen[/name] call her by this childhood nickname. So the moral of the story is…if a real life [name]Queen[/name] can have this name, why not your daughter too? All the best!
I agree with [name]Mischa[/name]. Plus, the [name]Queen[/name]'s ancient, so I think definitely anyone of any age can pull it off. And if she becomes a super serious [name]Judge[/name] or accountant and doesn’t think [name]Lilibeth[/name] fits, she’s got [name]Lily[/name], [name]Beth[/name] and [name]Betty[/name] to choose from! Perfect
[name]Lilibeth[/name] is a great name. I think it is a nice spin on the common [name]Elizabeth[/name] (also a nice name).
And as lauren-kay pointed out, she has plenty of nns to choose from (including the intended [name]Betty[/name])!
I don’t think it’s too cutesy at all. Definitely a winning choice.
Thanks for all the encouragement! An entire day has passed and we still love it. Of all the [name]Elizabeth[/name] variants, [name]Lilibeth[/name] really is the one we like the most.
To sydneyinthecity, what a hateful and unnecessary thing to say. [name]Shame[/name] on you.
If [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Beth[/name] can be full names then I dont see how [name]Lilibeth[/name] is too nicknamey. [name]Lilibeth[/name] [name]Louise[/name] is lovely! Congrats on chosing.
[name]Lilibeth[/name] [name]Louise[/name] sounds perfect for you! I’m so glad you were able to find everything you wanted in a name and ended up with such a lovely one!
