Would your very first thought be Boy or Girl for the name [name_u]Finch[/name_u]?
Boy! But maybe cause I just read it on the list from another thread
When I read it on that list I immediately filed it under not usable. But I’m very slow to warm to word names so who knows maybe next week it will be in my top five, definitely keeping an open mind but for now I strongly dislike.
I understand that. I’m quick to like word names, especially nature names. I automatically thought of To Kill a Mockingbird, which I love the idea of… but the more I say [name_u]Finch[/name_u], the more I can’t get past that it sounds like Pinch and Flinch. I feel it’s more of a boy’s name too.
It’s all bird to me, but if I had to choose I would go with boy.
I read a book and the main female character’s name was [name_u]Finch[/name_u]. But I prefer it on a boy.
I immediately think boy, just because I’ve seen the musical [name_m]How[/name_m] To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, but i could actually see a little girl named [name_u]Finch[/name_u] as well.
I think it is more of a boys’ name
Boy to me. That’s because I know a boy named [name_u]Finch[/name_u]. Aside form that, it’s just not feminine sounding in the least to me and boys need more nature names
I see it on a boy!
I would say boy.
I’d assume boy
I think of [name_u]Finch[/name_u] as a boy’s name but I can see it as a middle name for either gender.
I wouldn’t be surprised either way, but I prefer it on a boy. The lads need more nature names.
Boy, definitely. Brings me back to the [name_u]Finch[/name_u] family of To Kill a Mockingbird.
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought would be boy, but I could see it working for both genders.
It seems unisex to me. A nature name and surname, both of which are commonly used on both genders (regardless of whether or not people think they should be, the fact is they are). I also think of To Kill a Mockingbird, which is a great association to me.
Thanks all! To Kill a Mockingbird is definitely why I like the name. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] to know it comes across mostly male to others too. I agree that there needs to be more male nature names:)
I see it work for both genders.
I think boy!
most definitely boy. i kind of like it. i have never heard it.
