[name_f]Thora[/name_f] has been tricky to find a first name for. I would only use it in the middle, it’s a bit too bold for me to use up front. I have neem looking for a reasonably clunky name to go with it, and I haven’t really had any luck.
The problems with finding a first name for [name_f]Thora[/name_f]:
- it can’t end with A
- it can’t have the ‘or’ sound
- it can’t really be two syllables. (Well, it can, but it has to be a fabulous name!)
[name_f]Thora[/name_f] is all stormy and sea-like to me, so I would love to find a name to matches with it.
The best combo I have though of is [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_f]Thora[/name_f]. [name_f]Anne[/name_f] is my grandmother’s name, and I would like to honour her. But is [name_f]Anne[/name_f] too similar to [name_u]Marian[/name_u]? (I say [name_f]Mar[/name_f]-ee-in, barely pronouncing the in.)
I love older, clunkier names (think [name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Sybil[/name_f], [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Eunice[/name_f], [name_f]Rhoda[/name_f], [name_u]Marian[/name_u].) I need something either one syllable, or three syllables. I am not a huge fan of overly long or frilly names. Or names starting with G.
And with [name_f]Thora[/name_f], I need a bluey, gray, dark or pearly name. So nothing beginning with J ([name_f]Josephine[/name_f]) or any (well, to me) dark pinky letter.
I have already thought about [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Thora[/name_f], but [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is a little too frumpy for me. I’ll think about it.
Thank you so much Berries, you are the best!
[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f].
PS: I am not expecting at all, I am far from that.
