Wow, your boys really do have the perfect names! I especially love [name_u]Pax[/name_u] – gorgeous choice, and the best meaning too.
I had to vote for [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. Yes, the meaning is a bit feistier and the sound is a bit sharper and edgier than the boys’ names, but I like that vibe for a younger sister! It’s got the same spirit, vivacity and individuality that your boys’ names share, plus it’s just really, really cool.
My second favourite is [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. I think the meaning is lovely, the sound is beautiful, and I agree it gives off a really gentle, joyful, colourful vibe. But it is getting increasingly popular, and “Oh My Darlin” could very quickly get old…
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] both feel a little bit… tame, for me, alongside your boys’ names. I love the feminist connection with [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], but I’ve never heard of this before so I’m not sure how widely known this aspect of the name is. I think sweetly vintage, slightly lacy, cool old lady vibe – and it doesn’t sound like that’s exactly what you’re going for here!
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] is certainly getting a lot more popular where I live ([name_f]England[/name_f]), and it also sounds quite a bit like other popular girls’ names of the moment: [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], etc. The Shakespearean backstory isn’t great, and the meaning and sound of the name are just a bit weak, to me at least.
[name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] in the middle, by the way! Can I make a few suggestions?
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]: All the brightness and sunniness of [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], but less popular, and you get your “[name_f]Goldie[/name_f]” honour front and centre – you could even call her [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] for short!
[name_f]Xanthe[/name_f]: Beautiful, ethereal, extremely unusual, and literally means “golden”, for another [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] reference.
[name_f]Angelou[/name_f]: For the feminist in you I love the sound of this one, and it seems to fit with the gentle, calm meanings of your boys’ names.
[name_f]Celestine[/name_f]: A more elegant, understated, underused alternative to [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], without the song issue. Beautiful sound and meaning. I also love [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] for you, if this one feels just a bit too [name_m]French[/name_m].
[name_f]Eulalie[/name_f]: Another beautiful-sounding name with a meaning to match, which always reminds me of [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], but is less popular and without the [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] connection.
[name_f]Honor[/name_f]: I just love this as virtue names go, and I’m not usually a huge fan. Traditional, but super rare, and with a lovely simple look and sound.
Estée: Meaning “star”. I have a young [name_m]SIL[/name_m] with this name, and I think it’s really sweet, strong and unexpected, but familiar, too. I know that the Lauder connection is strong, but she’s a pretty successful role model to aspire to, if you’re not overwhelmed by the association.
Lumen: “[name_m]Light[/name_m]”. Another of my beautiful, underused favourites, and I think it would fit nicely into your set.
[name_f]Ziva[/name_f]: Another favourite. A great meaning and a bright, bold, energetic sound. Lengthwise, a great fit with your boys too.
[name_f]Vita[/name_f]: Ditto the above; this one means “life” and I’d have seriously considered it myself if it worked with our surname!
[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]: Or [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] – this one has an awesome (but not violent) meaning, and a beautiful soft and elegant sound.
Thank you so much for your in-depth response, @katinka <3 I’ve really found myself preferring Zelda myself lately, but my fiance said he doesn’t like it as much. I may have to work on changing his mind though, haha!
Also, thank you for your suggestions! My favorites were Marigold, Xanthe, Eulalie, Estee, and Vita.
Marigold - I actually considered this one when I was naming B0dhi, but everyone kept telling me that they thought Mari was a better nickname and I just… couldn’t get down with that… I still haven’t talked myself into having a daughter actually named, or called Goldie though.
Xanthe - I’ve considered using Xanthe instead of Goldie in a middle name spot, but I’m not sure that my dad would feel the same about Xanthe as he does Goldie. Our Goldie raised him.
Eulalie - I do feel like Eulalie has a sweet, southern vibe and I like it quite a bit, but I worry that it would tongue-tie people, or that people would want to shorten it to “Lolly” for some reason.
Estee - As much as I do love this one, I worry that other people would associate it with the makeup way too much.
Vita - Vita and Veda rotate off and on of my list, but I also have a really close friend with a cat named Vita…
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is wonderful with your sons’ names and has a great spunky meaning.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]!!!
Some suggestions with B0dhi and P@x…
[name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
[name_f]Farrah[/name_f]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f]
[name_f]Ilaria[/name_f]
[name_f]Amabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Estella[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliora[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]. It sounds just right to me, but I think [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m], [name_u]Pax[/name_u] & [name_f]Rose[/name_f] work beautifully. But maybe [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is too popular? I’m not familiar with popularity in your area so I don’t know. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] sounds nice to my ears! I absolutely love [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], are you sure that that wouldn’t be the perfect First name??
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - I think it’s super pretty, but it feels like such a different vibe from [name_u]Pax[/name_u]. I could see [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] & [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] as siblings, but not [name_u]Pax[/name_u] & [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f].
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] - [name_m]Just[/name_m] not my style. I don’t like the sound.
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] - I really like. Especially with nn [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosie[/name_f].
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] - I think this is great, but I’m slightly concerned about the rising popularity. The song doesn’t bother me, it is sort of nice I think!
I think [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], nn [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] really could be the perfect first name. [name_u]Unique[/name_u] but easily pronounceable and short like [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] & [name_u]Pax[/name_u]. My great-great grandma was [name_f]Goldie[/name_f], and I would love to name a daughter [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] or have it as her middle name someday.
I saw you like [name_f]Estee[/name_f], what about [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Estella[/name_f]?
I voted for [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], I think [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] would be a wonderful name for your daughter.
I hope you can convince your fiance
I like katinka’s suggestion of [name_f]Honor[/name_f]!
Maybe …
[name_f]Amara[/name_f] (not the official meaning, but amar=love in spanish)
[name_f]Caia[/name_f]/[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] (“rejoice”)
[name_f]Ilaria[/name_f] (happiness)
[name_f]Jaya[/name_f] (victory)
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]
I can’t comment on the popularity of [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], but I think it has a sweet meaning personally. The ancient Greek word ὠφελία or ὠφέλεια meant ‘help, aid, succour (especially in war)’. [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] is found as a name in ancient Greece, as is the masculine form Ophelion (Ὠφελίων) and the similar girls’ names Ophelima (Ὠφελίμα) and Ophelime (Ὠφελίμη), which come from the word ophelimos = ‘helping, aiding, useful, beneficial’. Basically it has a similar meaning to the Spanish name [name_f]Socorro[/name_f]. Maybe this doesn’t change your opinion but I think there’s a lot to like about it.
I voted for [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] but like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] too (love the nickname ‘[name_u]Romy[/name_u]’). I think [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] would be my third choice. You might like [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]/h (which has several spunky nickname options including [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f] and [name_f]Sukie[/name_f]), [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], and [name_f]Jemima[/name_f]. Other ideas: [name_f]Djuna[/name_f], [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], [name_f]Winifred[/name_f], [name_f]Salome[/name_f] (‘peace’), [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] (‘lovable’), [name_f]Irene[/name_f] (‘peace’), [name_f]Dulcie[/name_f] (‘sweet’), [name_f]Sophronia[/name_f] (‘prudence, moderation’)
[name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is my first choice. It has the same energy and spirit as her brothers. My second choice it [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f].
My personal favourite out of these is [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], which is what I voted for. It’s strong, literary, unusual and interesting. It definitely fits with B0dhi and P@x. “Help” isn’t a particularly powerful meaning, which did bother me originally - however, help could also relate to helping someone (healing/caring for them).
On the other hand, [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] would also work nicely for you. I think it still fits with the names of your boys, and has a spunky meaning and vibe. It’s definitely my second choice.
Wow, I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the meaning of [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] for you! However, the reason it is my third choice is because I think [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is much more familiar than the likes of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], B0dhi and P@x.
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is my fourth choice for you. I think for someone who is big on meanings, “mild and merciful” is very tame. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t get me wrong, it’s a lovely, vintage, feminine name. I just think that [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] and even [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] would all fit your sibset more!
I love [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] for you! It’s gorgeous and unusual, it fits great with your boy names.
I voted for [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], though I live [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] as well. I saw the suggestion of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] and it is beautiful. Though, [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] or [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] as a first name would be wonderful as well. I also have been loving the name [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] for a girl lately too.
[name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] and [name_u]Pax[/name_u] are short, unique, and have a punch. I like your girl names but they don’t really share a vibe- your girls names are flowy and feminine. These give me more of a similar vibe to me:
[name_u]Rae[/name_u]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_u]Remi[/name_u]
[name_f]Lumi[/name_f]
[name_f]Nova[/name_f]
[name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]
[name_f]Zona[/name_f]
[name_u]Kiva[/name_u]
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
[name_f]Aphra[/name_f]
[name_u]Risa[/name_u]
[name_f]Raina[/name_f]/[name_f]Reina[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f]
I voted for Rosemary, I think it fits the best with your boys.
Suggestions:
[name_f]Mira[/name_f]: admirable; peace; female ruler; or the ocean
[name_f]Amity[/name_f]: means friendships and harmony
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_f]Valentina[/name_f]: strength and health
[name_f]Naima[/name_f]: comfort, peace, and belonging to no one
[name_f]Rena[/name_f]: short for [name_f]Irene[/name_f] which means peace
Ophelia is becoming very popular bc the song Ophelia by the Lumineers has gone viral on a social media app. I like Ophelia, however, I don’t think it fits well with B0dhi and P@x. It doesn’t have that same calming imagery that both elicit.
Thank you all SO much! I truly appreciate all of your answers On our way home from town today, I realized something about [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] that kind of… knocked it out of the running for us. I really hoping that I convince my fiance that [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] is our best option. I really think it fits with our boys. [name_u]Gray[/name_u] always seems like such a balanced color to me (being exactly in-between black and white, of course) and I definitely think “balance” goes well with the “enlightenment” and “peace” meanings of their names.
Thank you so much, @jonquils I completely agree with you! <3 Gray is one of my favorite colors for just that reason and it makes me love Zelda so much more!
I fell in love with [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] after watching Pans Labyrinth. If you haven’t seen, omg watch! One of my fav movies of all time- so magical. Its more popular now from the lumineers song then anything, but I think people still hold back from actually using it. Seems like more a concept or fantasy name. I say use it!!! Its so beautiful.
My 2nd choice would be [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. Quirky, fun, unique, and quite pretty. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is my least favorite, just never vibed with the name. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is one of my favorite movie characters ever, and I have I hard time picturing it on anyone besides [name_f]Kate[/name_f] [name_f]Winslet[/name_f].
As a set- [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m], [name_u]Pax[/name_u] and [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] sound the best all together.
However my fav is [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] closely followed by [name_f]Zelda[/name_f]. Cant go wrong with either. [name_m]How[/name_m] exciting!!!
You guys are amazing! Thank you so much for all of the replies!
I just adore [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m], [name_u]Pax[/name_u] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] make such an awesome sibling set! Second for me would be [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] - both are strong, beautiful, dramatic names. I personally wouldn’t let the Shakespearean association stop you if you love it and in regard to [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] and the video game association (not that it bothers you), I actually think of [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] [name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m] first and foremost, which gives the name a brilliant roaring twenties, literary vibe for me. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is a lovely name but it doesn’t quite pack the same punch as your sons’ names or the other options on your list…
