Finding a meaning

I recently came across a name on another site; it was on a list of unusual names. I can’t find any info on this name other than about 50 ppl with this name, the majority of which are Hispanic. One name site said approx 85% of ppl with this name are in Mexico or the U.S. so I’m assuming it has Spanish origins. Other than that I can’t find any info on it. If anyone knows a meaning or can verify the origin it would be greatly appreciated. Ttc & I’m in love with this name but we don’t use names that we don’t know the meaning so I haven’t brought it up until I can verify. The name is Ismaray

A similar name is Ishmerai/Yishmeray … a Biblical boys’ name meaning “Yahweh guards”. Ismaray might be a variation of this name?

Searching for it led me to the name Ismara, which is a city mentioned in the Odyssey. I can’t find any actual information on Ismaray itself though.

[name_f]Isamar[/name_f] is a similar Spanish girls’ name, supposedly a combination of [name_u]Isa[/name_u]bel and [name_f]Mar[/name_f]ia. Ismaray also reminds me of Ismérie/Ismeria, names with a very interesting history: Name of the Week - British Baby Names

There’s also a similar Turkish girls’ name, Esmeray, meaning “dark moon,” and Esmerée is a character in a 12th-century Arthurian romance. Also, Isamaya is a form of the medieval name [name_f]Ismay[/name_f]/Isemay/Ysmay/Ysemay.
