I like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] best here. Both have the vintage charm of [name_f]Rose[/name_f], without the “filler middle” aspect, which I’m afraid I agree with.
While I always like the idea of a family name in the middle if there’s one you like?m, for me Avina is just a bit too unfamiliar next to very uncommon Winry. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] give a better balance, [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
[name_u]Love[/name_u] Winry, by the way — a lovely and original choice!
I voted for Winry [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. To me, while [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is lovely, it’s far too popular in the middle spot. [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] is nice, but it repeats the long “e” sound from Winry and it throws off the flow. Avina is likely just a bit too rare with Winry.
I really like Winry [name_f]Rose[/name_f]! If it’s too common, what about [name_f]Rosaleen[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f]?
My vote went to Avina - it has a lovely whimsical sound and I love that it’s a family name with such lengthy history of use. It’s quite uncommon, yes, but certainly not too ‘out-there’.
Winry Avina ‘Estuary’ sounds and looks lovely, to me.
Winry [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is lovely!!
I voted for Winry [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]! Winry [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is also beautiful on paper but I found myself tripping a bit over the two R’s when saying it out loud (English is not my native language though, so this might not hold true for other people). I think Winry [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (from your signature) would be a great name.
Other suggestions:
Winry [name_f]Diane[/name_f]
Winry [name_f]Eve[/name_f]
Winry [name_u]Pascale[/name_u]
Winry [name_f]Helena[/name_f]
Winry [name_f]Ada[/name_f]
Thank you ladies! I think I’m leaning towards [name_f]Violet[/name_f] for a middle if this little one is a girl. I just needed that little bit of reassurance.
I thought Winry [name_f]Violet[/name_f] was the easiest to say and it’s lovely.
I voted for [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. Winry [name_f]Rose[/name_f]/[name_f]Violet[/name_f] both sound fine, but they are so close to “wintry rose” that it feels too descriptive for me.
Another voting for [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] would probably fly be my favorite of your current options.

All your possibilities are lovely, though I voted for the wonderful Winry [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. I also love Winrry Avina, which gets a lot of props for being a family name. A few other other names that came to mind when I read your description:
Winry [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
Winry [name_f]Anabelle[/name_f]
Winry [name_f]Liora[/name_f]
@jonquil thank you! It took us a long time to settle on a Winry, and a lot of debating as it’s a little outside my usual style, but I think it’s gonna be perfect if this baby’s a girl.
@brittanysnitarose thanks for your suggestions! [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f], [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] & [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] would all be on our list if my husband would’ve agreed.
@nathalia thank you for your suggestions! [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] was one my top contenders for a first name before we came across Winry, and would’ve probably been a top pick if my husband had gone for it. Thats what happens when you have a picky husband!
