Finding inspired middle names

So, my husband and I have just about settled on a name for our first daughter (yay!) and now we’re trying to come up with a middle name. We have a good list going of names that sound lovely, but none of them have any particular meaning to us. I’d like to have a middle name with some personal meaning or a cute story – something a little girl would love to hear us tell her. ([name]Reading[/name] the recent thread on the middle name “Beeswing” inspired me to try to come up with a more creative route to a middle.)

For the record, her first name is likely to be [name]Margot[/name], and so far the only inspired ideas we’ve come up with are [name]Siena[/name] (one of the favorite cities we visited on our honeymoon, but I’m not sure I love the sound of it) and [name]Poppy[/name] (a nickname I used to use for my late father, but my husband thinks it’s too out there).

So, just curious: Aside from the traditional route of honoring a family member, what are some of the creative ways you’ve come up with a meaningful middle?

Something involving your maiden name
where you lived/worked/went to school when you met?
A word name with meaning- [name]Coral[/name] if you scuba dive, a nature name if you hike or garden? Tie it to something you love to do.
[name]Street[/name] name where you met, grew up, used to live, ect
Name you wished you had or named a doll as a girl

I just did a double hyphenated middle for my daughter. [name]One[/name] family name from my husband’s side & one from mine.

You could also think of a meaninful month or season or day of the week
Or if you’re really stuck use one of the doctor/nurse/midwifes names from your hospital or birth center!

Great ideas, thanks! I think I need to plan a brainstorming session – unfortunately DH is overdosed on name discussions and has requested a break. Any other ideas?

I love nature and try to go with nature themed names or else just things that I love. DD’s middle name is [name]Midnight[/name]. I love full moons, clear nights and just think that midnight is a sexy time of day(night). I’m really feeling inspired by the fall and since this baby is due on Halloween i’m thinking of names that pay homage to beautiful Canadian falls/autumns.
[name]Snow[/name] and [name]Wynter[/name] are names that pay homage to my love of changing seasons.

Other inspiration could come from favourite movies or songs that you and DH both love.
