Finding the perfect name for our baby boy!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone! I’m [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] ([name_f]Cat[/name_f]) and my husband is [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] and we’re having our first baby (a boy) in [name_f]September[/name_f]. We have a list that we’ve made already but we want to hear your thoughts and we’d love some other suggestions that you have for us.

We’re really into using family names, and the names on this list with a * next to it are family names.

He’s going to have two middle names (a tradition on my husband’s side) and we’re considering the names from the list as middles as well as firsts. We are sure that we want at least one family name in the name.

So we’d love to hear what you think of the list and we’d appreciate any other suggestions that you think we’d like! We’re really open minded and we don’t have any favourites yet, so we’d love to hear some new ones.

I love those names! They are all so classic, which is perfect with [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]. Plus, I love family name tie-ins.

Oh, I adore [name_m]Graham[/name_m]! (We’d pronounce it [name_u]Gray[/name_u]-am). I mentioned that name during a conversation when I’d first found out and my husbands shook it off, saying he wasn’t sure about it. I’ll bring it up again, he might come around to it hopefully! And [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Sylvan[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] is so handsome, thank you!

Oh, I also wanted to ask everyone about [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] which is a family name on my husband’s side and we both really like it, I forgot to mention it in my original post. We’d pronounce it with 2 syllables ([name_m]Fred[/name_m]-rick) but would other people pronounce it with 3? (like [name_m]Fred[/name_m]-uh-rick?)

[name_m]How[/name_m] do you all pronounce it? (If it helps, we’re in the UK)

I think [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] would get my vote but it might depend on your last name. I have also been liking [name_m]Fred[/name_m]/[name_u]Freddie[/name_u] as a nickname so [name_m]Fredrick[/name_m] would be in my short list for you too! I’m in the US and would pronounce it “fred-[name_m]Rick[/name_m]”. Good luck!
