Erm, I definitely wouldn’t consider it classic for a girl. It didn’t rank for girls at all until 2005, and in 10 years, it’s soared up the SSA list (over 700 points), and that makes it incredibly trendy for me. I mean, is it a bad name? I guess not. I can’t see the appeal on a girl–it’s always been a boys’ name to me, and always will be, despite [name_u]Angie[/name_u] [name_m]Harmon[/name_m] using it on a girl and its rising popularity for a girl. I mean, I don’t get what sounds feminine about it–[name_u]Finn[/name_u] sounds completely masculine to me, as does [name_u]Lee[/name_u], and most -ley ending names originally come from the boys, anyway ([name_u]Ashley[/name_u], [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], [name_u]Bentley[/name_u], etc., etc.). I would say it is really trendy, and I’m not a huge fan (probably because I love it on a boy), but I wouldn’t say it’s a horrible name. I mean, if you like it, use it. It’s not like you’re the only one, and obviously, others do like it. I prefer a fully feminine name with a unisex name, so I’d do [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], but the differences between the two styles are really jarring for me. I think something like [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] works a little better, but that’s just me. Since [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] is already unisex, I feel like it’s better to use a fully feminine name, so it’s clear that [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]'s a guy and [name]'s a girl, but soon enough it’d be clear that Emerson’s a boy and Finley’s a girl, anyway, so I’m not sure that matters too much in the long run.
I definitely like Everly Wren best from your list. Finley’s definitely not my thing at all, so I don’t want to be all placating and say, “But Finley’s great, too,” especially when I don’t really believe it, but at the same time, I don’t think it’s a really bad name–at least, not bad enough that I feel like I should talk you out of it. Sure, it’s not my thing, but in the realm of all the names out there, [name_u]Finley[/name_u] is a fine name. I sort of like the idea of [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]Finley[/name_u], though. Has the unisex name you like, but I think [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is fantastic, and I actually really like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]Finley[/name_u]. Both vintage and modern, which is a really cool combination, I think.
But yeah, if you like [name_u]Finley[/name_u], why not? It’s not a horrible name… I just don’t think a lot of Berries are a huge fan of it. It’s jumped pretty significantly each time over the past 10 years, though, so I expect it to rise even more. (Sorry, I hope something in this post makes sense, haha! I feel like I’m rambling, and not really making my point well (which is essentially yes, it’s trendy–and definitely not classic–and yes, it’s not everyone’s favorite, but it’s definitely not horrible, and while I’d prefer to see [name_u]Everly[/name_u] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] or [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_u]Finley[/name_u], if you love [name_u]Finley[/name_u] up front, you should use it.).)
Good luck!
