Thank you all so much for the suggestions on my last thread. From that, we have found some new names that we both like, [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] is our other favourite.
[name_u]Finley[/name_u] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m]: I have found that this name is used as a girl name in many places. In the UK it is very popular however as a boy name and never heard as a girls. [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is a nice nickname and I love the meaning !
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m]: [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] has [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] as a nickname, which makes me love it! Have always loved t
[name_u]Teddy[/name_u] as a name but not for an actual first. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] itself reminds me of [name_m]Alvin[/name_m] and the Chipmonks. But I know I am just being picky… [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is another very nice nickname.
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_m]Nelson[/name_m]: [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] as a nickname? There is also [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] which I also love! But… Can you call a baby [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]? [name_u]Love[/name_u] the name but it seems a little old manly.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is my favourite! I would also like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m].
A vote for [name_u]Finley[/name_u] from me (naturally)! I think it’s a great name for all ages and is associated with very cool (confident, approachable, creative, self-directed) vibes in my mind. Next vote to [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] (keep in mind that babies only “need” baby names for a couple of years in a whole lifetime, and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] and [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] both youthful). Almost every second friend of mine who’s had a boy in past 5 years has called him [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] (usually from [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], sometimes from [name_m]Edward[/name_m] or Ted). It’s lost some sparkle for me. Add: if using Teddy, I’d go for Edward or Edmund to stand out!
I really love [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], and what a gorgeous regal combo! [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] are both great nicknames, and the full name feels familiar and traditional but not overdone in the UK.
FWIW, I know several little Alfreds. It totally works! The ones I know all go by [name_m]Fred[/name_m] or [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] most of the time.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is a good name, and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] is darling. I prefer [name_m]Theomund[/name_m] though b/c then he could also be called [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] or [name_m]Ned[/name_m] or [name_m]Neddy[/name_m] as well as [name_u]Theo[/name_u] or Ted or [name_u]Teddy[/name_u].
[name_m]Alfred[/name_m] I adore. I think it will follow suit after [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] and [name_m]Albert[/name_m] into better favor.
My favorite is [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]! It’s a bit old man, but it’s coming back in style, especially in the UK. It has cute nicknames like [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] and [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], both of which are popular in the UK making [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] a fine choice for a modern baby.
My second favorite is [name_u]Finley[/name_u], I’m a bit tired of [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is definitely my favorite with [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] or [name_u]Theo[/name_u] as great nicknames.
I might be in the minority, but [name_m]Alfred[/name_m] is still too old-fashioned for my taste. And [name_u]Finley[/name_u] has the opposite problem for me, just a little too trendy for me. I prefer the [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] spelling though.
I agree with jules, I prefer [name_u]Finlay[/name_u].
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is a little too common and I personally am not keen but it is up to you.
My fave is [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], sweet, lots of nice nicknames and great history. Also, not too common but heard of.
I have a [name_u]Finn[/name_u] and I love it so much, so naturally that gets my vote. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is also great. I love [name_u]Theo[/name_u] as a nickname.
