I agree with @emeraldsea and would use [name_m]Finn[/name_m]. Extra letters are added to nicknames all the time! If he ends up going by his nickname later, I think more people will be familiar with [name_m]Finn[/name_m] than [name_m]Fin[/name_m], which might make spelling encounters easier for him.
