Finnian

Honest thoughts on this name?
I just asked OH and he didn’t seem to opposed to the name.

He likes the NN [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] though? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] can be a NN for [name_m]Finnian[/name_m].
I’m sure he would get [name_u]Finn[/name_u]/Finlay anyway?
Does it seem ok with my other boys names Z@chary and [name_u]Alex[/name_u]@nder? Not sure if [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] goes well with other boys names. ( I like to have a matchy somewhat sibset) Our surname is M@ckenzie.

Thanks !

Hi there.

I love [name_m]Finnian[/name_m]. I love just [name_u]Finn[/name_u] really, but after that [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] is my other favorite ‘[name_u]Finn[/name_u]’ name. It’s just witty & smart & friendly & interesting. I think that it goes fine w/your crew. It’s a little more unique than your ds’ names, but it doesn’t clash. And I especially like it w/your ln. I don’t know that the nn [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] makes that much sense, however. [name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] is a good name on its own. [name_u]Finn[/name_u] or [name_m]Finney[/name_m] as a nn for [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] would be perfect w/your family. I think that [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] is really unique but super simple as well, which is always a plus. I guess [name_u]Finn[/name_u] on its own is quite a bit more common.

Hope this helps.

Thank you that’s helpful. Finney is sweet I didn’t consider that. Yes I wasn’t sure if it has an overall Celtic/very Irish vibe to it whereas Z@chary and Alex@nder are more classical. They would get Z@ch, Àlex and Finn however?

Yes, yes, yes! I loooove [name_m]Finnian[/name_m]! If a nickname comes naturally, great! But if not, that’s fine too!

I love the name [name_m]Finnian[/name_m]! It seems to fit a lot of criteria modern parents look for: slightly unusual, easy to pronounce, deep roots while feeling fresh. It’s one of my favorite names.

I also think it goes pretty well with your sibset! It’s slightly more unusual than the others, but not strikingly so. They all seem handsome and cool.

Finlay doesn’t seem intuitive as a nickname , but [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is an easy nickname that is light and substantial! It also goes well with your sibset.

I love [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] but I do think it feels very irish. [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] feels less exclusively Irish and fits well with your boys!

Hah weird as I feel like it’s the other way round so [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] feels more Irish and [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] leans more towards maybe a classic sound, like [name_u]Dorian[/name_u], [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_u]Julian[/name_u] all sound classic

I see what you mean! I consider those other names classic too. I guess [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] is just so widely used now (no more widely than A and Z’s names though I don’t think) that it’s become more international to me. Like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], which is also quintessentially irish but has become mainstream.

I love it, and I especially love it with your surname. How fun is F M@ckenzie to say?!

I think [name_u]Finlay[/name_u], [name_m]Finney[/name_m] or [name_u]Finn[/name_u] all work for short, and I have to say that Z@ch, A1ex and [name_u]Finn[/name_u] sound like perfect brothers.

As for the full names, it’s less popular, but it still has a solid, traditional feel and a long history. And as I’ve said before, A and Z are such cool-classic names that they fit with a wide range of styles.

Finnian is cute! It’s uncommon while being familiar and has the sweet imagery of a little, fun boy. I think it goes well with Z and A. Flows well with your surname too.
I don’t think [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] works as a nickname, though.

I really like [name_m]Finnian[/name_m], and I think the nickname [name_u]Finn[/name_u] works really well. I don’t think [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] works as a nickname though, it’s a whole name in itself.

I really like [name_m]Finnian[/name_m]! I’m genuinely surprised it’s not more popular that it is since it fits with currents trends so much. I guess [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] could work as a nickname, maybe more so if his middle name started with an L. I’d personally be more inclined to call him Finny.

I love [name_m]Finnian[/name_m]! It sounds so playful and smart. I think as long as [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] is pronounced [name_m]Fin[/name_m]-lee, it makes perfect sense as a nicnkname! [name_m]Zach[/name_m]@ry, [name_u]Alex[/name_u]@nder, and [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] are really good together!
