I’ve been pondering over this name for quite some time now. What are your thoughts on it? Is it too tightly tied to Hunger Games to be a usable name?

I absolutly [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] it! Its such a strong name with many NN options - [name_u]Finn[/name_u] or [name_u]Nick[/name_u] just to name a few. I would not worry about the Hunger Games connection, in a few years nobody remembers the [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] from the movie :smiley:

I only vaguely remember the Hunger Games connection, but I don’t really care for it. It reminds me of “finicky”…like a picky eater.

I love [name_m]Finnick[/name_m]! I wouldn’t worry about the hunger games at all… And if someone makes the connection, that’s ok, he’s great character to be associated with.

I don’t even know the Hunger Games. The only association that comes to me is to the adjective finnicky, which I think has a negative connotation, especially for kids. My second thought was about fennecs.

[name_m]Hence[/name_m], it didn’t even strike me as a name at first, but I just looked it up and it’s a legitimate name. If you like the sound, I might suggest going with the original spelling Fenwick, which I also happen to like better personally now that I think about it :slight_smile:

I like that you can get [name_u]Nick[/name_u] or [name_u]Finn[/name_u] from it, but I don’t really like it. It reminds me of ‘finicky’ as well. If you like it, I do think it’s usable though-- while [name_f]Katniss[/name_f] is irrefutably tied to the Hunger Games, I don’t think [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] is.

I love it, and I’m not usually big into “invented” names. This one totally works, very cool.

[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t get it. I just think of finicky.

I think it’s usable, and I’ve heard of other parents picking it.

Oh, I love [name_m]Finnick[/name_m]! It’s one of my favorite ways to get to [name_u]Finn[/name_u] (which I think is so sweet and adorable!)

[name_m]Finnick[/name_m] is very handsome, and perfectly usable in my opinion. I first heard the name the first time I read The Hunger Games trilogy, and [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] was my favorite character. So while I dont think most people would think of THG character, even if people do, it’s not a bad association at all!!
