Posting this in this forum too.
First baby here & I have always always thought about baby names for years. I am so excited for us to agree on a name especially once we find out the sex. Here are a few I’m tossing around. I have some family middle names would like to use…[name]May[/name] or [name]Ryan[/name] for girl and [name]David[/name] for boy.
Girls:
[name]Blair[/name]
[name]Ever[/name]
[name]Harlow[/name]
[name]Myles[/name]
[name]Norah[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name]
[name]West[/name]
[name]Quinn[/name]
Boys:
Jence
[name]Penn[/name]
[name]Hayes[/name]
[name]Graham[/name]
[name]Fisher[/name]
[name]Wells[/name]
[name]Rowe[/name]
I’m sure I will have plenty more I like along the way! Thanks all!
I don’t want to seem really mean but they all seem a little try hard to me, particularly Jence, [name]Wells[/name], [name]Rowe[/name] and most of the girl’s names scream celebrity.
[name]Graham[/name] is a middle aged man’s name in the UK but at least it’s a recognised name. I couldn’t ever imagine meeting a baby [name]Graham[/name] [name]David[/name] but it’s nice enough and the nickname [name]Gray[/name] is cool and on trend.
[name]Fisher[/name] is very odd to me, his only nickname would be ‘[name]Fish[/name]’ and could you imagine the jokes on that?
Overall, I’m drawn to [name]Penn[/name] and [name]Hayes[/name] for a boy but none of them sound great with middle name [name]David[/name]. Would you consider [name]Rowan[/name] and [name]Jenson[/name]? [name]Jenson[/name] [name]David[/name] and [name]Rowan[/name] [name]David[/name] would be gorgrous!
[name]Norah[/name] is the clear standout on the girl’s list, feminine, sophisticated and so pretty, none of other names compare to this at all. [name]Myles[/name], [name]Sawyer[/name], [name]West[/name], [name]Quinn[/name] and [name]Blair[/name] are much better on boy’s. [name]Harlow[/name] and [name]Ever[/name] seem very trendy, but I guess [name]Harlow[/name] would get my second vote.
Girls:
[name]Blair[/name] – I actually love this, especially on a girl. I don’t think it does to well with [name]May[/name] or [name]Ryan[/name], though. Maybe [name]Blair[/name] [name]Harlow[/name]?
[name]Ever[/name] – [name]Love[/name]. Especially with [name]May[/name], except it turns it into a bit of a statement-- “[name]Ever[/name] [name]May[/name],” like Always [name]May[/name]. It would be a bit bizarre with [name]Ryan[/name], though, for the same reason. Also the double R.
[name]Harlow[/name] – Not stoked about the meaning, whether it means [name]Army[/name] or [name]Hill[/name]. It also might be a bit of a fad name. But that long O is so tempting, and sounds very Southern [name]Belle[/name] with [name]May[/name]… [name]How[/name] about [name]Meadow[/name] or [name]Willow[/name] or [name]Sparrow[/name]?
[name]Myles[/name] – I love myself some unisex names, and [name]Myles[/name]/[name]Miles[/name] is a favorite of mine, but be prepared to correct a lot of people.
[name]Norah[/name] – NMS.
[name]Sawyer[/name] – Too prevalent, too obviously masculine if paired with [name]Ryan[/name].
[name]West[/name] – [name]Haven[/name]'t seen it on a girl. Interesting choice! I think it would also seem too masculine paired with [name]Ryan[/name], and too clipped if paired with [name]May[/name].
[name]Quinn[/name] – NMS. Similar sounds in [name]Gwyn[/name], [name]Jocelyn[/name], [name]Flynn[/name], [name]Lynn[/name], and even [name]Dorian[/name].
Boys:
Jence – Like [name]Jensen[/name]?
[name]Penn[/name] – As long as you don’t live in PA, I think [name]Penn[/name] is fine. Reminds me of the comedian, though.
[name]Hayes[/name] – Doesn’t gel with [name]David[/name], imo.
[name]Graham[/name] – Not enough Grahams in the world! Might be a good mn if you decided to move [name]David[/name] to the first spot.
[name]Fisher[/name] – Hmmm. Too much like [name]Fisher[/name] [name]Price[/name] while he’s small… almost seems like product placement to all your relatives. On the other hand, they’d always know what to get him.
[name]Wells[/name] – I actually love this the most of your boy names. I knew a [name]Wells[/name] (now in his early twenties), and on first meeting his name struck me as refined, surprising, and creative.
[name]Rowe[/name] – NMS. Is it a last name in your family you’re attempting to repurpose?
Thanks for the input. [name]Kinda[/name] weird, b/c I actually just generally like different names & those are some favorites. Jence is a name from bedtime stories my Dad used to tell us about neighbors that were brothers & one was Jence. So, it has a little meaning behind it. [name]Wells[/name] comes from seeing [name]Wellington[/name] and [name]Rowe[/name] is something I saw along the way.
[name]Harlow[/name] is my late Grandfathers name & [name]Ever[/name] I did see years ago from a celeb site & loved it. Right now that is our favorite. [name]Fisher[/name] is off the list actually now, dh doesn’t like it & I actually like [name]Foster[/name] better than that.
Appreciate the input, but I’m sticking w/ most of these for my list. They either have meaning to me or ones I’ve always loved. Like [name]Graham[/name] & [name]Hayes[/name]. We may have to re-think the middle name though. We’ll see! I love getting input!
Thanks ‘onomast’! I think above you will see the reason for Jence in my explanation to ‘sheflieswithherownwings’. So glad you like [name]Ever[/name], that is one if not the top on the list. I do love it with [name]May[/name]…and I think we’ve nixed [name]Ryan[/name] as a mn. [name]May[/name] is when my late-grandmother was born and my mother. I’m pretty picky about names & although I love using family names, neither of our families have great names to use. My late grandfather was [name]Harlow[/name], so that is why we put that on the list. Trying to look into other meaningful things to our families to use.
[name]Love[/name] the [name]Fisher[/name] [name]Price[/name] thing…weird b/c last night we went thru & totally nixed that name. I think [name]Foster[/name] is on the list now, but I’m not crazy about it. I love [name]Wells[/name] too! I think it’s a little “out there” but I think it’s super cute for youngster & for an older man. [name]Penn[/name]…it’s on the list, but yes I have thought of that a lot & kind of makes me change my mind on it. We both really like [name]Graham[/name], however friends of mine just used it, so it’s not the #1.
I’ll have to add more & make a bigger list on her. I love seeing all of the feedback!!! Thanks!
Of the girls I like [name]Norah[/name] and [name]Quinn[/name]! Of the boys I like [name]Graham[/name] and [name]Fisher[/name]. I also like [name]Rowan[/name], nn [name]Rowe[/name].
