[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries,
[name_f]My[/name_f] partner and I just found out that we’re having a little boy in [name_f]April[/name_f]! This is a real pickle since our naming styles are moderately incongruent and I think he will be a baby no name. Also, when considering names, know that the last name is [name_m]Burg[/name_m]. Any suggestions you give will be received with gratitude and consideration. Thanks!
His top picks are [name_m]Eric[/name_m] (his name), [name_u]Atwood[/name_u] (childhood lake), and [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] (we were born here and live in [name_u]Colorado[/name_u])
[name_f]My[/name_f] top picks are [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] (reminds me of my brother), [name_m]Beaumont[/name_m] (mountain themed), [name_u]Paxton[/name_u] (I love the meaning), [name_u]Asa[/name_u] (same meaning as my brother’s name)
Family Names: [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Jason[/name_m], [name_u]Lee[/name_u], [name_m]Eric[/name_m], [name_u]Oliver[/name_u], [name_m]Frank[/name_m], [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]
Questions:
-
What do you think of the name [name_u]Atwood[/name_u]? I love the meaning it holds for us, but I just can’t picture a boy named [name_u]Atwood[/name_u]. I’ve tried it out on a few family members with poor reception.
-
[name_m]Can[/name_m] you think of any new names that might merge our two styles? [name_u]Indiana[/name_u]-themed, mountain-themed, music-related, or a play on family names might be our best bet. Also, if possible, I’d like to honor my brother who passed away. His name was [name_m]Jason[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] and he was a pirate, shark swimming, scuba diving, adventure type.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you see any good name combos from the names listed above?

Atwood is fantastic! I love the meaning behind it. That said, I do think it would be best as a middle name. It would work with any of your family names or any name from your list and your husband’s, easily. I like it with something classy, like [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_u]Atwood[/name_u], [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] [name_u]Atwood[/name_u], [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Atwood[/name_u], or [name_u]Lee[/name_u] [name_u]Atwood[/name_u].
Adventurous boy names:
[name_u]Archer[/name_u]
[name_u]Ashton[/name_u]
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] (means ‘bear’)
[name_u]Brooks[/name_u]
[name_m]Drake[/name_m]
[name_u]Everest[/name_u]
[name_u]Griffin[/name_u]
[name_u]Indy[/name_u]
[name_u]Lincoln[/name_u]
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_m]Silvan[/name_m]
[name_m]Westley[/name_m]

I don’t know if your names are too incongruent. You both are looking at family names and places of significance.
I like [name_u]Atwood[/name_u] ok but maybe more as a middle name.
I really love [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] since it reminds you of your brother and it’s outdoorsy and definitely [name_u]Colorado[/name_u] sounding to me.
Jasper [name_u]Atwood[/name_u] sounds great to me!
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]Eric[/name_m] is also nice

First of all CONGRATULATIONS🥳 How exciting!!! Both of your styles have an adventurous feel to them, which seems to match with your late brothers energy as well.
I think @elanorelle pretty much nailed it with the adventurous boy names!
I third [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Atwood[/name_u] [name_m]Burg[/name_m] for you! Otherwise I really love [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] or [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] [name_u]Jay[/name_u] ([name_u]Jay[/name_u] being an honor name for [name_m]Jason[/name_m]).
Best of luck!

Atwood has sweet connotations for me as well, but I don’t think I like it as a first or middle name. Also, [name_u]Atwood[/name_u] [name_m]Burg[/name_m] sounds a little iffy.

Josiah (means “God heals”)
[name_u]Jay[/name_u] (diminutive of [name_m]Jason[/name_m])
[name_u]Jace[/name_u] (diminutive of [name_m]Jason[/name_m])
[name_u]Everest[/name_u] (mountain)
[name_u]Archer[/name_u] (I like this suggestion! It feels very adventurous to me)
[name_m]Bear[/name_m]!
[name_m]Cliff[/name_m] (It’s a outdoorsy daredevil-type name, isn’t it?)
[name_u]Forest[/name_u]
[name_u]Indiana[/name_u] (It would work well on it’s own, especially with [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] connotations. It’s meaningful and adventurous!) ETA: [name_m]Just[/name_m] noticed you had that on your list!
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] ([name_m]Tom[/name_m] [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] was definitely adventurous haha)
3.

I love @elanorelle’s pick of [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] [name_u]Atwood[/name_u] [name_m]Burg[/name_m]. It sounds outdoorsy to me and being from the Midwest (originally Michigan now down south) I think it would work perfectly to mix in the [name_u]Indiana[/name_u]/mountain/adventurer themes you’re interested in!
Also if you’re into nicknames I love [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] and all the [name_u]Ollie[/name_u]’s I met were fun and outdoorsy people that were very adventurous.
I hope you find something that clicks for you. You’ve gotten a lot of great options here

Atwood [name_m]Jason[/name_m] or [name_m]Beaumont[/name_m] [name_m]Eric[/name_m] are very cool!
I like [name_u]Atwood[/name_u], you could use [name_f]Atty[/name_f] or [name_m]Woody[/name_m] as nicknames?

Atwood is cool! [name_m]Woody[/name_m] or [name_f]Atty[/name_f] would make cute nicknames!
Everest [name_u]Lee[/name_u], Summit [name_m]Leon[/name_m], [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] [name_m]Jason[/name_m] or [name_u]Sonny[/name_u] [name_m]Eric[/name_m] came to mind
Asa [name_m]Frank[/name_m] is a combo that stood out to me

I like [name_u]Asa[/name_u], [name_u]Indiana[/name_u], and [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] a lot! I love the meaning of [name_u]Atwood[/name_u] but it does feel a little awkward as a first name, I think it might make a great middle name choice. I also like the idea of honoring your brother.
Suggestions for honoring [name_m]Jason[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]:
[name_u]Jace[/name_u]
[name_u]Chase[/name_u]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Leon[/name_m]
[name_m]Jonathan[/name_m]
[name_u]Levi[/name_u]
[name_u]Jackson[/name_u]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_u]Jameson[/name_u]
Other suggestions on your style:
[name_u]Ira[/name_u] (feels kinda similar to both [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] and [name_u]Asa[/name_u])
[name_u]Asher[/name_u]
[name_u]Wyatt[/name_u]

Thank you for these ideas! “[name_u]Oliver[/name_u] [name_u]Atwood[/name_u]” and “[name_u]Archer[/name_u] [name_u]Atwood[/name_u]/Lee/Valentine” made it on our fridge to say out loud for the next few months. We can’t agree on [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], but I’m a huge fan.

Yes, the [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_u]Atwood[/name_u] connotation hit me too. I’ve read several of her books and think she is superb. [name_u]Atwood[/name_u] is doubly literary since the lake we are referring to was named after a character in a book by author [name_u]Gene[/name_u] Stratton-[name_u]Porter[/name_u]!
I’m kind of feeling “[name_u]Denver[/name_u]” and DO is on board. I think we’ll add that to our fridge. Thank you!

Ohhh, I hadn’t thought about [name_u]Jay[/name_u] as an honor name. I could definitely see us playing with [name_u]Jay[/name_u] in the name. I agree, that @elanorelle gave some fantastic suggestions. Thanks!
Yes! [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] is definitely precious. I think I’ve been resisting [name_u]Oliver[/name_u] due to it’s popularity, but something about it feels so right. Thanks for chiming in!

I love [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_u]Atwood[/name_u] but I’m struggling to make any combos with this surname!
Atwood [name_u]Jay[/name_u] is a lovely honour name
I love the nn [name_m]Woody[/name_m] which goes along with the adventurous vibe.
Beaumont [name_m]Burg[/name_m] is also v cool. [name_m]Beaumont[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u].

I LOVE [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] for you as, for many, it is the beautiful mountain town of [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] in [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] National [name_u]Park[/name_u] in the Canadian Rockies, and reminding you of your brother is special. I know a little boy who is named after another mountain that his parents enjoyed hiking on so maybe you have another meaningful area (like [name_u]Atwood[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]) that lends itself to a handsome name? Perhaps there are other place names in [name_u]Indiana[/name_u] that you have lovely memories of? Suggesting…
Jasper [name_u]Atwood[/name_u]
[name_m]Beaumont[/name_m] [name_m]Eric[/name_m] (the nickname [name_u]Beau[/name_u] is great!)
[name_m]Beaumont[/name_m] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]
[name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]William[/name_m]

Hmm lots of great suggestions above. The only other one I can think of at the moment is [name_m]Colin[/name_m] which could be Col(orado) + In(diana)… I like [name_u]Atwood[/name_u] in the middle spot quite a bit.
Asa [name_u]Atwood[/name_u] would be cool. Maybe you could look for names relating to the ocean/water as well as another avenue to honor your brother
