First for middle Dwaine

Hi there!

I am not crazy about this name but my husband’s father passed and this would be a way to honor him. My husband loved when I put this in as a middle one day.

The only combo so far that even made me on board with using this name was:

Andrew Dwaine

It’s nice, we enjoy it but I am open to other ideas…. This could be a new first with it OR a nod name that is similar in some way.

Other names we like are:

Jack Wilde
Jack Thomas
Calvin Cole

Zoe Estelle
Lucy Caroline

Thanks in advance!

Ideas to honour [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]:

[name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] (via Duane) comes from the [name_u]Irish[/name_u] surname Dubhan, from which [name_u]Davin[/name_u] and [name_u]Devin[/name_u] are sometimes derived.

Rhyming and same initial - gives me similar feels to [name_m]Cole[/name_m] and [name_u]Wilde[/name_u]

[name_m]Dunstan[/name_m], [name_m]Gethin[/name_m], [name_u]Douglas[/name_u]:
[name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] means ‘dark little one’ - these have similar meanings.

I love family honor middles. We did that for all three kids, and it’s brought such joy to us and the honorees/those that loved them. [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] is handsome! I think [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] is such a lovely name that gets overlooked a lot these days.

Sorry about his passing :frowning: also sorry that you don’t like the name! Is there something else about his dad he loved that maybe could be the honor instead?

Example (kinda weird, I know): if they bonded over watching [name_u]Walker[/name_u] [name_u]Texas[/name_u] [name_u]Ranger[/name_u] together maybe do [name_u]Norris[/name_u] [name_u]Wilder[/name_u], [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] Trivette, etc? [name_m]Worth[/name_m] the ask!

Others with [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]:

[name_m]Gregory[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]
[name_u]William[/name_u] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m]

Hopefully this helps!

I agree with other posters variations (Dane or Dean) or maybe another way to honor his memory, what was your FIL’s middle name?

That being said, I think [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] can work well, even be cool again like [name_m]Dwayne[/name_m] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m]. [name_u]Honor[/name_u] names can be such a blessing, even if they aren’t our first choice. I think it is a robust name that sounds best with a three syllable first, though if you go with a longer name, also consider nicknames. [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] is lovely as is [name_u]Andy[/name_u] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] but [name_u]Drew[/name_u] Dwaine…

Maybe consider

[name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] (Chris Dwaine)
[name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] (Tony Dwaine)
[name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] (Jerry Dwaine)
[name_m]Matheson[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] (Matt Dwaine)
[name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] (though [name_u]John[/name_u] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] might not)

Oh curious about [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] !

[name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] is growing on me and it makes my husband so happy. FILs middle was [name_m]Hyram[/name_m] and I’m spelling it wrong… it’s worse to me lol.

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and his father are/ were amazing cooks. The whole family bonds over food and music. [name_m]Can[/name_m] look into that too, thanks!

I like [name_m]Christopher[/name_m], will add to the list!
I also like the [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] variations you listed. Thanks!

You could use a seasoning name like [name_u]Basil[/name_u] or [name_u]Sage[/name_u] or a dish name like [name_m]Caesar[/name_m], [name_m]Graham[/name_m], [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]?

I agree that unless there is a specific song/artist of music, [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] is probably the most direct honor.

[name_m]Gregory[/name_m] [name_m]Dwaine[/name_m] is great!
