What are your first impressions of [name_m]Vander[/name_m]? My DH suggested it for this little guy due in 3 months and I think I like it but I’m unsure of what overall feeling/vibe it gives because it is still so new to me. All the names on our list I have liked for a few years so I’ve had time to develop strong opinions of.
I like that [name_m]Vander[/name_m] seems to be a great alternative to [name_m]Anders[/name_m] which I love but can’t use for a few reasons.
I’m not really looking for other alternatives to [name_m]Anders[/name_m], just mostly would love to get your thoughts on [name_m]Vander[/name_m]. Does it feel boring? Edgy? Strong? Handsome? And so on…
I am not a fan. It’s not too bad, I just don’t like the look or sound. To be honest, it reminds me of Vader (as in Darth, but also vader/vater, the Dutch and [name_m]German[/name_m] words for father) and looks like either a short form of [name_m]Evander[/name_m] or “creative” twist on [name_m]Xander[/name_m] to me.
I quite like it! I actually prefer it to [name_m]Xander[/name_m], which feels very hipsterish to me.
I’m sorry for another suggestion when you said you weren’t looking for them, but I’ve always loved [name_u]Sander[/name_u]/[name_m]Sandor[/name_m] as a more unusual, timeless and “grown up” alternative to [name_m]Xander[/name_m]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] throwing it out there because I think it would be perfect with your sophisticated, understatedly cool, international set.
I really like it and definitely prefer it over [name_m]Evander[/name_m]. It has a handsome, cool vibe and I wouldn’t hesitate to use it. I know some fellows who go by [name_u]Van[/name_u] so [name_m]Vander[/name_m] feels like a regular, but uncommon name.
Strong name. [name_u]Unique[/name_u] but not weird. I think it compliments your other children’s names. ( impressive list). I like it better than [name_m]Evander[/name_m] as the V is a great start to a name. I know a guy named [name_m]Gregor[/name_m] and when I first met him I thought twice about the name. But like [name_m]Vander[/name_m] it’s strong and easy to say, spell and pronounce.
Your children have beautiful names. [name_m]Vander[/name_m] does not go well with [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_m]Dimitri[/name_m] and [name_f]Mila[/name_f]. It sounds made-up, incomplete and doesn’t have the lilting flow of the other names.
I’m not really a fan, sorry. It just seems incomplete, especially next to your other children’s names, which are gorgeous. I understand why you can’t use [name_m]Evander[/name_m], but actually [name_f]Eva[/name_f] + [name_m]Vander[/name_m] together sound like a mash up of [name_m]Evander[/name_m], so that would be another reason against [name_m]Vander[/name_m] for me.
Hello. First of all, your oldest children’s names are amazing!
I’m not a fan of [name_m]Vander[/name_m], sorry. The first image that came to my mind was Darth Vader…
