First initial of first name matching first initial of last name?

I stay away from any first name that ends in the same beginning and ending sounds of our last name. So no names ending with -h or -en. I also try to stay away from first names that begin with the same letter as the first letter of our last name. Is this completely necessary? There are a couple of H names that I really like but since our last name starts with H I always figured they were off limits. But I’m finding boys names really hard. I feel like we dug ourselves into a hole with the names [name]Rex[/name] and [name]Troy[/name], they’re really hard to follow up with something I like.

I don’t think so! My maiden name was [name]Laura[/name] [name]Locke[/name] and I LOVED the alliteration. I’m a little sad that my married name is another letter. It was memorable but still easy to say. As long as the names don’t rhyme or aren’t difficult to say or too cutesey or otherwise are similar (ie: [name]Harvey[/name] [name]Harper[/name], [name]Robby[/name] [name]Robertson[/name]) I think it’s totally fine.
It probably helped that my names didn’t share any letters other than the “L”

I am trying to guess what H name you like that fits with [name]Rex[/name] and [name]Troy[/name]. [name]Hal[/name]? [name]Hayes[/name]? [name]Hank[/name]? Hex? jk. There are lots of cool boyish names like those out there, but I don’t mind alliteration at all. I understand not using it as a personal taste choice, but in general, I think it’s pretty snappy. [name]How[/name] about [name]West[/name], [name]Dean[/name], [name]Gray[/name], [name]Leo[/name], [name]Flynn[/name], [name]Ralph[/name], [name]Joss[/name], [name]Levi[/name], [name]Tate[/name], [name]Leif[/name], [name]Drake[/name].

I think I just don’t like my married name :frowning:
My maiden name was L*** [name]Le[/name]***** and I thought it sounded just fine. But my married name is H€nk€n and just just seems so gruff; especially since my husband started the short strong trend with names. I prefer names like [name]Augustus[/name] and [name]Frederick[/name], but those don’t really work now.

You got [name]Hayes[/name] right! I also like [name]Hart[/name] and [name]Hugo[/name]. I either have or had [name]Dean[/name], [name]Grey[/name], [name]Leo[/name], and [name]Drake[/name] on my list. Right now [name]Dean[/name] seems to be the only one DH and I can somewhat agree on. My last name just annoys me!

[name]Dean[/name], [name]Hugo[/name], and [name]Frederick[/name] all feel like a good fit to me. [name]Fred[/name] is a great nickname and I don’t think you’re trapped with one-syllable names just because of the two older boys. ([name]Rex[/name] and [name]Troy[/name] are awesome together btw.)

I am in the same situation as you, in that I have a last name beginning with H. To me, alliteration is generally not a problem, but anytime I think of double H names for our son, I get the song from My Fair Lady in my head: “[name]Just[/name] you wait, 'Enry 'Iggins, just you wait…” and I can’t bring myself to do it.

My first and last name start with the same letter and it has never bothered me. I actually like it and have received many compliments on my name too! And they end in the same letter/sound also. I say go for it.

Upon marrying my husband I became MM. Never once has it bothered me! If you love the name, don’t let the double letter stop you!
