We like the first name [name_m]Nash[/name_m], but our last name is [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] and we are worried about the connection people will make to the band [name_m]Crosby[/name_m], Stills, and [name_m]Nash[/name_m]. Our feelings about the band are neutral, but we don’t want it to be a point of discussion every time we introduce our son (or he eventually introduces himself). Are we over thinking this, or is this a valid concern? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
Forgive my ignorance, but is [name_m]Crosby[/name_m], Stills, and [name_m]Nash[/name_m] still relevant? Does it put out any current music? And if not, will it continue to be well-known enough that more than a smattering of music-philes will make the connection?
I thought of CSN when you mentioned [name_m]Nash[/name_m] and [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] together, but I doubt that most people would. I think you’re overthinking it.
Thanks for your thoughts! I don’t think CSN are producing any new music, but they (only [name_m]Crosby[/name_m] and [name_m]Nash[/name_m] at this point) continue to perform. We agree that with time an ever-smaller group of people will make this connection.
Additional thoughts are still welcome!
I’d never heard of the band until you mentioned it. On a side note, [name_m]Nash[/name_m] is one of my least favorite names…but yeah.
I don’t think this name would be a playground problem, as kids would have no idea about it, but parents and especially grandparents would probably make the connection. I’m 34 and thought of it immediately. I think that it would come up fairly often, and if you don’t feel like you would want to explain it much, it might not be the best choice. But if you totally love it, and feel like that’s your kid’s name, then go for it.
