[name_m]HI[/name_m] I came up wit some names for my baby girl that I reeaally like, but my friend said they are bad names cause they have both endings with y! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think these names are good names? And whats the best? I like all of them!
My last name is Cosgrove so it has to go with that but my bf’s is [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] and when i marry him in the future it has to go with that too.
I think the double Y can make a name combo a tongue twister. [name_f]Stefanie[/name_f] is my fav from your list, but I prefer the traditional spelling [name_f]Stephanie[/name_f].
It’s a bit too rhymey for my taste, and like hixtwin4 said can be tongue-twistery. But it’s probably workable if the two names have different syllable counts.
So from your list the ones that work [name_f]IMO[/name_f] are:
[name_f]Destiny[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_f]Tiffany[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_u]Bailey[/name_u] [name_f]Tiffany[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_f]Hayley[/name_f] [name_f]Destiny[/name_f]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] [name_f]Hayley[/name_f]
[name_f]Tiffany[/name_f] [name_f]Hayley[/name_f]
Some ones with [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]/[name_f]Stefanie[/name_f]/[name_u]Allie[/name_u] that work are:
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] [name_f]Tiffany[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] [name_f]Destiny[/name_f]
[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] [name_f]Stefanie[/name_f]
[name_u]Allie[/name_u] [name_f]Destiny[/name_f]
[name_u]Allie[/name_u] [name_f]Tiffany[/name_f]
[name_f]Stefanie[/name_f] [name_f]Hayley[/name_f]
[name_f]Stefanie[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_f]Tiffany[/name_f] [name_u]Allie[/name_u]
[name_f]Destiny[/name_f] [name_u]Allie[/name_u]
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] [name_u]Allie[/name_u]
I’m not really a fan of double -y/-ie endings, but these ones [name_f]IMO[/name_f] are usable.
Another solution would be to use a full name for [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] or [name_u]Allie[/name_u] that doesn’t end in y and just call her [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]/[name_u]Allie[/name_u] as a nickname, if you like that idea. Or use [name_f]Stefania[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Stefanie[/name_f].
i.e.
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Tiffany[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f] [name_f]Tiffany[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f] [name_f]Bethany[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Destiny[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Bethany[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Stefanie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f] [name_f]Stefanie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Stefanie[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Destiny[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Hayley[/name_f]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Hayley[/name_f]
[name_f]Electra[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_f]Electra[/name_f] [name_f]Tiffany[/name_f]
[name_f]Stefania[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_f]Stefania[/name_f] [name_f]Hayley[/name_f]
[name_u]Allison[/name_u] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_u]Allison[/name_u] [name_f]Hayley[/name_f]
[name_u]Allison[/name_u] [name_f]Stefania[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Bethany[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Hayley[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Destiny[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Stefanie[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Tiffany[/name_f]
I don’t like the double y ending. I actually know someone with this and it sounds a bit like a joke (others have noticed too). In general I think your choices are ok (I like
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] especially) but [name_f]Destiny[/name_f] is lower class to me. If I’m honest, it sounds like a stripper name. I know that’s harsh but I think it’s what a lot of people would think so better to hear it now when you can still make a change.
I think I’ll go with [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] [name_f]Destiny[/name_f], but I have weeks to decide so, no rush!
I was also thinking, what spelling would be best for [name_f]Hayley[/name_f]? These are the ones I think look ok…
[name_f]Hailee[/name_f]
[name_u]Haley[/name_u]
[name_f]Haleigh[/name_f]
[name_f]Haylee[/name_f]
[name_f]Hayleigh[/name_f]
[name_f]Hayley[/name_f] - This is the only one I’ve ever actually seen.
[name_f]Haylie[/name_f]
Doesnt offend me one bit that you’d think my older sister (who is the reason i want to use the name) sounds like a stripper just cause of her name… And calling it a name for lower class doesn’t hurt at all.
You should go for whatever name you like best, and if it means something personal to you, go ahead no matter what anyone thinks! We post on here to get honest feedback from other people though, especially since our children are the ones who have to live with that name and we want to make sure they don’t get teased or looked down on for the rest of their lives just because of their name.
What Elo said about [name_f]Destiny[/name_f] sounding lower-class is a perception many people are going to have, so it’s something you might want to consider. My rule of thumb is to consider how the name looks on a resume when your daughter is 30 and applying for a job at a law firm. Are the bosses going to see her name and think of a strong, intelligent woman? Or are they going to think of strippers?
That said, as a middle name it’s safer in that your daughter can choose not to use it in future if she doesn’t like it as much as you do. I like [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] [name_f]Destiny[/name_f], it flows well and sounds good with your last name(s). Another accepted way of spelling [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] is [name_f]Hailey[/name_f], or simply [name_u]Haley[/name_u].
[name_f]Hayley[/name_f] [name_f]Destiny[/name_f] isn’t my style, but the flow’s not too bad. If you love it, use it.
Have you heard the name [name_m]Destin[/name_m]? I feel like that’s a cool way to honor a [name_f]Destiny[/name_f] and [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] [name_m]Destin[/name_m] sounds cool to me.
The -y or -ie endings usually make names sound childish. Three syllable names tend to fare better ([name_f]Stephanie[/name_f], e.g.). -Y or -ie endings are ok for nicknames, but children should have a serious ‘grown-up’ name for use in their adult lives.
I like [name_f]Hailey[/name_f] the best. I would however be reluctant to use a name that has so many spelling options, because people are never going to know how to spell her name.
[name_f]Hailey[/name_f] is the most common spelling though, so many people might assume that this is how it is spelled.
[name_f]Bethany[/name_f] is my favorite name on your list. I think instead of [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] as a middle that [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] or [name_u]Harper[/name_u] might work better. [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] Cosgrove and [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] [name_f]Harlow[/name_f] [name_m]Pierce[/name_m] sound great. [name_u]Bailey[/name_u] might be a good choice for a sister name down the road.
If [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] is your favorite though, it does work well with both last names. If [name_f]Destiny[/name_f] is an honor name, the middle spot is a great place for it. This would give your daughter her own identity but also recognize the person you want to honor.
