I absolutely fell in love with [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] for a daughter, but I can’t use it and need some encouragement and help !!
I have love love loved [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] for years. And [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is my grandmothers name and would love to honor her.
I ended up marrying into a family that already has a girl named [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] M (and same last name because her dad is brothers with my husband). Absolutely crushed. I talked to my SIL and told her I had loved [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] for a long time and would she be okay if I used it, but spelled it differently — [name_f]Alyviah[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ayla[/name_f].
She met me with such kindness and understanding and said she didn’t mind — she had also went through the same thing with their eldest daughter and a close friend.
Was so excited and then husband said he didn’t really care for how I spelled it and then said there would be two “ Olivia’s “. And then the other day he said who cares it’s our hypothetical daughter’s name and we can name her what we want.
She is called [name_f]Livy[/name_f] and I would like to call our daughter [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] (aye-Luh). So it wouldn’t be confusing that way
So I’m torn between keeping it on my list and moving on from it completely. Now I’m just trying to find a name combo I love just as much as I do with [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] / [name_f]Alyviah[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. I think it’s so beautiful and flows so nicely.
Would love some other first name suggestions for middle name [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].

Oh gosh I feel for you! I was in a very similar position with my beloved [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. I had loved [name_f]Rose[/name_f] for years and years then my friend used it in a hyphenated combination (P3yt0n-R0s3) and it felt like I couldn’t use [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. At the time we were very close so it was just weird. So I’ve been in your shoes and I think the best solution is to move on finding a name that feels exclusively yours. Maybe an [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] alternative like [name_f]Odette[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Ophira[/name_f], [name_f]Orla[/name_f], [name_f]Olivine[/name_f], [name_f]Oona[/name_f], [name_f]Sofia[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Livia[/name_f] would suit?

[name_f]Ayla[/name_f] is very pretty, but I don’t think [name_f]Alyviah[/name_f] has the same effect that you fell in love with in [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]. [name_f]Every[/name_f] time you have to explain the spelling or the nickname, you might feel regret or resentment over not using your first choice spelling. If you choose this route, I’d just name her [name_f]Ayla[/name_f].
Also, the middle name [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is rich with meaning since it’s after your grandmother. Using [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] as a middle at this point might feel like you’re honoring this other young family member. I would stick with [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
