I would like to honor my hubby’s grandma by using her name, [name]Idella[/name] (eye-[name]DEL[/name]-a) as a middle name. I am really struggling with first names that fit however! I love uncommon, yet known names. I am drawn towards nature names as well. Here are some of my favorites, most of which have been vetoed.
[name]Olive[/name] [name]Idella[/name] (too close to popular [name]Olivia[/name])
[name]Tillie[/name] [name]Idella[/name] (too much of a nn?)
[name]Mabel[/name] [name]Idella[/name] (love, but won’t work b/c [name]Mabel[/name] was Grandma [name]Idella[/name]'s sister)
[name]Milicent[/name] [name]Idella[/name] -we have a dog named millie
[name]Maple[/name] - hubby hated
[name]Hazel[/name] [name]Idella[/name] - I don’t love it, but I do like it
I don’t know. I am just stuck. Can you lovely ladies help me out. Thanks <3
Yesterday after i wrote this i realized every one of the names that I liked but can’t use have an ‘L’ in it. That means first middle and last would have an ‘L’ - not cool. Here are a few I have found this morning (but haven’t shown my hubby) what do you think?
[name]Maude[/name] [name]Idella[/name]
[name]Edith[/name] [name]Idella[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Idella[/name] - both family names… I kind of love this combo
I think [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Idella[/name] is the best on your list. I like the way the combo looks and sounds together. The combo just rolls off the tongue very nicely! I was struck by the similarities of other names on your first post (all had l’s or “el” in them). In your second post. [name]Maude[/name] [name]Idella[/name] and [name]Edith[/name] [name]Idella[/name] have two strong d’s so I don’t find that they flow very well. Try out [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Idella[/name] on your DH and see what he thinks! Good luck!
