[name_f]My[/name_f] partner and I will be TTC later this year and I’d really like to use [name_u]Robin[/name_u] in the middle spot if we have a boy. It’s his name, and just so happens to be my favourite bird too.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite combo is [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] “Teddy” but [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is #15 here in [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]Zealand[/name_u] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] is #44, so combined it’s probably top 10 and neither of us really want to use a popular name.
I’m not feeling inspired by my list, any suggestions? Last name is two syllables, starting with W, ending in -ee sound.
Names I like, but don’t love with Robin…
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u], [name_m]Cassius[/name_m], [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m], [name_m]Finneas[/name_m], [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_u]Kingsley[/name_u], [name_u]Kit[/name_u], [name_u]Miles[/name_u], [name_u]Ocean[/name_u], [name_m]Otis[/name_m], [name_m]Rollo[/name_m], [name_m]Rufus[/name_m], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], [name_m]Simon[/name_m], [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m]
@babynamesrus Thank you, I do like [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]! All of the others are lovely names, but they’re just not the one for me and there’s a few I can’t use for various reasons too (Micah, [name_u]Milo[/name_u], [name_m]Leon[/name_m] and Bexley).
@soluscreas Yes, [name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]! I don’t know how he slipped off my list. Definitely a contender, but I do worry how popular [name_u]August[/name_u] is going to get. Again, there’s a few in the there I can’t use (Felix, [name_u]Julian[/name_u], [name_u]Milo[/name_u], Nico).
@greenleaves Thanks, I’ve never even considered [name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u] before so that’s a great suggestion. I like it, but I mentioned it to my partner and is definitely not a fan. He was like “fattiest?”
@Greyblue [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is lovely but, again, it’s getting so popular (top 100 for boys in [name_f]England[/name_f] and [name_u]Scotland[/name_u] and rising for girls too). I do like names like [name_m]Jacoby[/name_m], [name_m]Evander[/name_m], [name_m]Lucien[/name_m] and [name_m]Sylvester[/name_m] but I’m just not sure they feel like us and our family.
Thanks all, here’s my shortlist so far but I would still appreciate any more suggestions!
As the bearer of the name [name_u]Robin[/name_u], I wholeheartedly approve! (Sometimes I even daydream about paying it on as a middle to a son, to kind of flip the gender expectations, since I’m female.)
Anyways, I LOVE [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]. Something about it really strikes the right chord. But I also understand wanting to avoid the popularity. Some other suggestions:
I think you should use [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] anyway. If you’re going to call him Teddy/Ted, that eliminates the need to compare it to [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. I grew up with a top 10 name in the 90s/00s and didn’t meet anyone with my name until I was 12. If it’s the name you love the most, use it! [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is a great name.
Firstly good luck with TTC journey later on this year hope it all goes smoothly
I absolutely love [name_u]Robin[/name_u] such a gorgeous name really fresh and outdoorsy. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is stunning I would probably still use despite popularity.
You’ve had a few suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
@maidcarrion You definitely should! It would actually be my #1 first name for a boy if my partner wasn’t a [name_u]Robin[/name_u]! At least I get to use it in the middle though. I do love names like the ones you’ve suggested (Amias, [name_m]Malachi[/name_m], Lysander) but they just don’t feel right for our family. I can’t use [name_m]Westley[/name_m], but I do really like [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] so I’ll definitely give that combo some more though, thank you!
@whammy [name_u]True[/name_u]! The nicknames Teddy/Ted do remove the need to compare with [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. [name_m]Even[/name_m] being #15 here in NZ, [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] was still only given to 159 boys last year so I probably need to put the popularity into perspective!
@tori101 Thank you!! I hope so too I really like the name [name_u]Asher[/name_u]. It’s popular here, but only just inside top 50. I also really like that it shares the same meaning as my name (“fortunate”). I know someone who has an [name_u]Asher[/name_u], but we’re not close so it’s definitely usable. I like [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] too (and I’m pretty sure my OH does as well), but the association with Weinstein is pretty strong still.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites so far are
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]
I will suggest
[name_m]William[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]
Michael/ [name_u]Micah[/name_u] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_u]Lennox[/name_u] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_m]Abraham[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u]
