We’re expecting a baby boy in [name]March[/name]. We’d like to name him an “H” name to honor my husband’s grandfather, [name]Henry[/name]. It seems the last 10 baby boys we know are named [name]Henry[/name] so we’re looking for something different. I love the name [name]Hayes[/name] as a first name. Middle name will be [name]Miller[/name], my maiden name-so [name]Hayes[/name] [name]Miller[/name].
[name]Do[/name] you think [name]Hayes[/name] can stand on its own as a first name?
I think [name]Hayes[/name] as a first name is quite nice.
However (and I do not intend to be rude) I’ve never understood how using a name with the same initial as a person you want to honor is really honoring them. It’s a pet peeve of mine I suppose. When my sister-in-law wanted to honor her grandmother, [name]Martha[/name], she did so by naming her second daughter [name]Makayla[/name]. (She didn’t like the name [name]Martha[/name].) I just don’t see how that honors the person.
Anyway, I think [name]Hayes[/name] [name]Miller[/name] is a very handsome name and one that will definitely not be too common.
I’ve met a children named [name]Hayden[/name] that use “[name]Hayes[/name]” a nickname through teaching (and when I say few - I mean, three children in total). I’ve subbing in seven districts K-12 around my hometown for the last three years so it’s a very rare name.
I think [name]Hayes[/name] [name]Miller[/name] is a fine combo. The only issue I can see is the name is close to the word “haze”. I like it in the middle spot too like CNN reporter [name]Anderson[/name] [name]Cooper[/name] who has [name]Hays[/name] as his middle name.
I like [name]Hayes[/name], but I’m not crazy about it with [name]Miller[/name] as a middle name. It just seems too surnamey and depending on your last name, his full name will sound like a law firm. Here are some other H names ideas…
I know I am replying to an old thread - but I do have to say, from personal experience, that [name]Hayes[/name] is the best first name [name]EVER[/name].
