I am pregnant with my third daughter and fifth child, and my husband and I have narrowed it down to [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_u]Josie[/name_u]. My husband and I really like classic and family names and we want her middle name to fit within that realm. Below are my other children’s names and the inspirations behind them.
[name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] (Family Name & Husband’s Middle Name)
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_f]Pacey[/name_f] (Family Name & Mother-In-[name_m]Law[/name_m]'s Maiden Name)
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] (Both Family Names)
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (Both Family Names)
Any suggestions on the debate between [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] or [name_u]Josie[/name_u] and thoughts on a middle name would be helpful!
Your children have lovely names! I would choose [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] nn [name_u]Josie[/name_u] to go with your other children, since they almost all have more formal names.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any other family names you’d like to use? People or places to honor?
If not, and you’re just looking for something classic, I would suggest:
As a [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] who sometimes goes by [name_u]Josie[/name_u], I’d highly recommend doing the same thing - that way, she has a long, flowing, traditional name like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], but also has the option of going by [name_u]Josie[/name_u] (or [name_u]Jo[/name_u], Sephi, [name_f]Posey[/name_f], [name_f]Fifi[/name_f], or any other diminutive of this versatile name) should she wish. I love pp’s suggestion of [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]!
I agree with both previous posters. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] with the potential nickname of [name_u]Josie[/name_u] is perfect! As far as middle names, I would need a list of family honor names to choose one that goes with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].
I’d rather be [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] with a nickname, than [name_u]Josie[/name_u]. I think the long form is more versatile (I have a four syllable name myself, and I enjoy how flexible it is when nicknames are considered).
I also think [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is perfect with [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], strong and beautiful, but easy to shorten.
I wouldn’t know what to suggest as far as middle names go, since you want to use family names. Maybe your maiden name? Your mother’s maiden? Your middle?
I much prefer [name_u]Josie[/name_u] over [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] but I have to say that if you’re done after #5 I’d probably go [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] so it’s similar.
Personally I think it’s hard to give you middle name recommendations without knowing if you want another family name.
I would choose [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and she can then also use [name_u]Josie[/name_u]. This would fit much better with the other family names. ([name_u]Josie[/name_u] would really be the odd one out style-wise). And, irrespective of other family names, I would much rather be called [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and use [name_u]Josie[/name_u] in some situations than have [name_u]Josie[/name_u] as my full name.
If you have family names for all the other 4 it would seem a good idea to use one this time! Is your name [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]? [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] would be good.
