First names that dont flow with last names

[name]Jeff[/name] and I have been having small arguments about the name [name]Tobias[/name], we absolutely love the name and want to have it for a future boy but i have one problem, his last starts with B and ends with S so [name]Tobias[/name] Bullis just doesn’t flow well when i say it. I have mentioned to him other forms of [name]Tobias[/name] such as [name]Tobin[/name] or [name]Tobiah[/name] but he just doesn’t like them as much and cannot see why i hate the name with his last name. I was wondering if anyone else had problems such as this or had any suggestions for ours.

Thanks,

[name]Kassie[/name]

On a side note we want to use the mn [name]Robert[/name] [name]Donnie[/name] or [name]Donnie[/name] [name]Robert[/name] in memory of [name]Jeff[/name]'s late Uncles.

[name]How[/name] about the alternate form, [name]Tobiah[/name]? [name]Tobiah[/name] Bullis isn’t nearly as much of a mouthful, and you can still use the adorable nn [name]Toby[/name]!

I have the EXACT same problem! My partner’s last name ends with an s sound (his last name rhymes with House), and there are MANY names out there that I fall in love with, only to realize that they sound just AWFUL together (example: [name]Alice[/name], [name]Beatrice[/name] and [name]Maris[/name] for girls and [name]Elias[/name], [name]Silas[/name] and yes, [name]Tobias[/name]! for boys). Therefore, I completely sympathize with your problem. [name]Even[/name] though there are many names that end in an “s” sound that I [name]LOVE[/name], I have written them all off because they just do not sound good (I once would have sworn I’d have a daughter named either [name]Alice[/name] or [name]Beatrice[/name]…leaving those names behind was tough, but I want my child’s WHOLE name to sound good together!).

I think that [name]Tobin[/name], [name]Tobiah[/name] or even just [name]Toby[/name] all sound SO MUCH NICER with your last name. Or, use [name]Tobias[/name] as a middle name…it doesn’t matter nearly so much if the middle name and last name flow/sound perfect together, because they’re not used together every day. However, EVERYONE will know him as [name]Tobias[/name] Bullis, which just doesn’t work, in my opinion.

I hope you find something that you [name]BOTH[/name] love, and that works with your surname! I know how painful it can be to part with a favourite name, but it’s worth it when you find something that you love AND that sounds perfect.

I think if you love it and it isn’t overtly ridiculous (which [name]Tobias[/name] Bullis definitely isn’t) then you should use it!

That said, I understand your dilemma. I had to give up [name]Miranda[/name], an all-time favorite, because she rhymes with my surname. Sigh.

Well i just love the flow of the perfect name and [name]Tobias[/name] Bullis just sounds clunky when i say it, i told [name]Jeff[/name] maybe we should go through names again and see if maybe we love a different name just so [name]Tobias[/name] will be replaced, we are making a list of non S ending names because [name]Jeff[/name] likes [name]Tobiah[/name] but doesn’t [name]Love[/name] it like [name]Tobias[/name].

So its just back to the drawing board for _______ [name]Donnie[/name] [name]Robert[/name] or [name]Robert[/name] [name]Donnie[/name] Bullis  im glad i am not the only one with the problem though, Thanks all of you.

We fell in love with the name [name]Noah[/name] [name]Robert[/name] [name]Donnie[/name] Bullis, just to let you Berries know.

I adore [name]Tobiah[/name]. Why does he not like [name]Tobiah[/name]? It’s only one letter off and just really flows SO much better with the last name. And [name]Toby[/name] is such an adorable nickname.

I too prefer [name]Tobiah[/name] with your last name, but if you and your hb like [name]Tobias[/name] then I said use it! Its a great name and your probably going to call him [name]Toby[/name] breaking the s-s patten anyways … The MN will also break pattern, so go for it!

Well he likes [name]Tobiah[/name] but he doesn’t [name]LOVE[/name] it like [name]Tobias[/name] but its okay because we settled on a name we both loved anyway, thanks again for all the suggestions though
