First opinions on this name?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone I’ve recently fell in love with a very uncommon name, [name_f]Asha[/name_f]. I was wondering how would you first pronounce this name? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think you would confuse it for [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] or [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f]? What do you envision the girl with this name to be like?

I know a teenager by this name and she pronounces it [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-sha, almost aw-sha. It’s pretty, I like it. i don’t think it would be mistaken for [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] or [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f] if pronounced that way. The girl I know is very sweet, creative, and an actress.

I knew a girl named this and it was pronounced [name_u]Ash[/name_u]-uh, first syllable the same as [name_u]Ashley[/name_u]. But I know that the pp’s pronunciation and also “[name_f]Asia[/name_f]” have been used. I think it’s a gorgeous name!

I would pronounce [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-shah and it is lovely!

I would pronounce it: [name_u]Ash[/name_u]-uh

I love this name!!! I would pronounce it “[name_u]Ash[/name_u]-ah”

Not a fan.

‘[name_u]Ash[/name_u]-ah’. I live in an area with a big asian community and I know and know of quite a few girls/women called [name_f]Asha[/name_f]. It’s a sweet name.

I have only ever heard it pronounced “[name_m]Ah[/name_m]-shuh”. It’s very pretty! I’ve met three little girls named this, all were of [name_f]Indian[/name_f] descent but the one little girl was blonde haired/brown eyed (mom is Swedish, dad is [name_f]Indian[/name_f]-American) so I think it works well on any child.

Oh, [name_f]Asha[/name_f] is just lovely – so simple, yet elegant. I pronounce it [name_m]AH[/name_m]-shah.

Beautiful name and beautiful meaning. I envision a peaceful and compassionate person. I would pronounce is ah-shah.
