What do you guys think? Initial reactions? I’m really loving these names right now, but didn’t get the best reactions earlier today.
[name]David[/name], [name]June[/name], and [name]Marie[/name] all honor family in some way, and [name]Marie[/name] is my middle name which I want to pass down.
Oh, and just to give another idea of my style, my other two favorites:
[name]Dashiell[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Luke[/name] “[name]Dash[/name]”
[name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Bethany[/name] [name]Claire[/name] “[name]Georgia[/name]” (pr. jor-jay-nuh)
My first reaction: gosh, they are very different in style! Sorry but I’m not a fan of Hartford. It sounds - well - kind of snobbish to me! I prefer just [name]Hart[/name] and I think it would go better with [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]June[/name] [name]Marie[/name]. [name]Hart[/name] and [name]Magnolia[/name] have a nice ring to them. WDYT? I like [name]Dashiell[/name] better than Hartford. But my fave has to be [name]Georgiana[/name]. It’s classy, elegant and ladylike! All the best!
@mischa: Thanks for being honest! I was a little worried about Hartford sounding pretentious. I’m not the biggest fan of [name]Hart[/name], just because I can’t imagine someone like my 13 year old brother being called [name]Hart[/name]. But [name]Hart[/name] and [name]Magnolia[/name] seriously sound wonderful together! I really like it, but I’m hesitant. I’ll add it to my list. I love [name]Dashiell[/name] too, but Hartford has been a frontrunner for awhile. I’m glad you like [name]Georgiana[/name]! I love it too, and I’m obsessed with the combo I have, because I love all three names (especially [name]Bethany[/name]).
Again, thanks for your response!
@amajo319: I’m glad you see them as older, Southern names, because that is kind of my goal. I love Southern sounding names, despite not living there. As I said before, I’m not as crazy about [name]Hart[/name] as I am about [name]Ford[/name], although [name]Hart[/name] and [name]Magnolia[/name]/[name]Maggie[/name] would be wonderful together.
Thanks for the response!
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Magnolia[/name], its been on my list for a while. I used to work with a [name]Ford[/name] and he was a great guy, so Hartford works to that end. I wouldn’t worry about a name seeming pretentious. Its better than a name with 15 “y’s and x’s”
I actually like the nn [name]Ford[/name] better than [name]Hart[/name]. My mom had a childhood friend named [name]Ford[/name] and I think it sounds like more of a name to me for that reason. I think if people heard you call a boy “[name]Hart[/name]”, they might interpret it as “Heart”. I think it’s a cute sibling duo!
@tracyleighann: I’m glad you don’t think Hartford is pretentious! Haha good point, it’s a better choice than Jayydyn or something. Thanks for replying!
@abbycd: I also prefer the nickname [name]Ford[/name], glad to see that you do too. I was also worried about the “[name]Hart[/name]”/“Heart” thing, because as I said before I know my 13 year old brother would hate that, so I’m not sure it would work well in teenage years. I’m happy you like my choices! Thanks for replying.
rachelmarie not sure if you are still set on Hartford. My reaction to Hartford is firstly it does sound pretentious, I think the nn of [name]Hart[/name] could be turned to Hurt by nasty schoolyard bullies. I like the name [name]Ford[/name] though.
As much as I like [name]Magnolia[/name] I would only ever use it in the mn spot as it is way too over the top for me.
I think [name]Maggie[/name] and [name]Ford[/name] sound like a great sibset and I think it would be better to give them these names as they sound more grounded and people won’t be making unreal assumptions about them because of their names being imho over the top.
@mischa: Whoa that man is gorgeous. Haha. Again, I love [name]Hart[/name] and all, but I love [name]Ford[/name] more and the versatility that Hartford offers. If he would choose to go by [name]Hart[/name], that would be great, but [name]Ford[/name] sounds much more manly and masculine to me. Although both are great names!
@rollo: Hmm I have a heard a few reactions of Hartford sounding pretentious, which kind of worries me. I would hate for a kid’s name to sound that way. I’m glad you like [name]Ford[/name], though. Does that downplay any pretentiousness that Hartford might give off?
[name]Magnolia[/name] being over the top was another worry, but I love it so much and it has some personal meaning, so it’s hard for me to reconsider it.
Ooh I’m happy you like [name]Maggie[/name] and [name]Ford[/name] together! If I did one day name my kids Hartford and [name]Magnolia[/name], they would most likely exclusively go by [name]Maggie[/name] and [name]Ford[/name] (except maybe at home and such). Does that at all help? Because I really love both the full names and nicknames.
I always appreciate completely honest feedback! It helps me out and I enjoy hearing the opinions of others. It also makes me question my use of Hartford…
My first reaction was that I love the way [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]June[/name] [name]Marie[/name] sounds!!! It’s so sweet and reminds me of a beautiful sunny day with the wind blowing through the trees. [name]Love[/name], love, love it! [name]Maggie[/name] is a great nick name, one of my favorites!
Hartford [name]William[/name] [name]David[/name], Doesn’t really flow. I think its because all the names are two syllables and to make it flow, at least one name should have a different number of syllables. Like [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]June[/name] [name]Marie[/name]. 3 syl., 1syl., 2syl. Also, [name]Magnolia[/name] ending with the vowel makes it easy to transition to the next name which begins in a consonant. And with [name]June[/name] ending in the “n” sound and the next name [name]Marie[/name] beginning with the “m” sound, it allows the tongue to already be in the right place to where all it has to do is lower to make the “m” sound, adding to the ease of pronunciation. [name]Ford[/name] is a gread name for a boy. [name]How[/name] about just using [name]Ford[/name] as the middle name. [name]Ford[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]David[/name] sounds better.
[name]Hope[/name] this helped.
[name]Hi[/name] rachelmarie [name]Maggie[/name] and [name]Ford[/name] are such a good sibset, and if they are called this 99% of the time it is fine with me. Best wishes, rollo
@amandaberry: Wow thank you for the indepth response! I’m so glad you like [name]Magnolia[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name]! I also love how you described it, a beautiful sunny day with wind through the leaves… That was such a sweet picture to paint, and you definitely strengthened my love for it!
I can see your issue with the flow of Hartford [name]William[/name] [name]David[/name], but I say [name]William[/name] as 3 syllables. I thought that’s how it’s pronounced, right? I really love [name]Ford[/name], but for some reason it feels incomplete as a full name next to [name]Magnolia[/name], ya know? So I picked Hartford because I think both the first and nick name works with the middles. But I definitely see your concern, and I may reconsider [name]William[/name].
I’m so glad you like the flow of [name]Magnolia[/name] [name]June[/name] [name]Marie[/name], I love how you described it, and that’s the flow I love. Seriously, thanks for all the input! I really appreciate it.
@rollo: Oh goody, I’m glad that with [name]Maggie[/name] and [name]Ford[/name] being what they would be called the majority of the time is better. Because I love the nicknames just as much.
@amandachristine: Yay, thanks! I’m happy that you like them too!
