[name]Hi[/name] All
I am due any time now and my husband and I still haven’t committed to a name. We don’t want to tell our families so if you could be so kind to give us your FIRST thought on each name that would be awesome. We have narrowed the middle name down to [name]Jane[/name] or [name]Ruth[/name] so if you want you can imagine one of those two combos with it. For anyone who cares we have a two syllable last name starting with the letter I.
[name]Matilda[/name] I’d rather over the other two.
I won’t post my first thoughts on the names because they aren’t positive, and I think it’s unnecessary to share.
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] works as a combo, [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is more refreshing though.
[name]Ottaline[/name] also makes me think of otters. [name]Clementine[/name] makes me think of the fruit but it would make a cute and unusual name. [name]Matilda[/name] seems to stand out to me amongst the three. [name]Matilda[/name] goes really well with [name]Jane[/name] too.
I am torn between [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. I think they are both beautiful I agree with bambi that [name]Ottaline[/name] also makes me think of otters.
I’m afraid I’ve never liked [name]Ottaline[/name] - I’d go with [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Jane[/name] or [name]Clementine[/name] [name]Jane[/name] - both are cute!
To all Posters:
Thanks for all your responses. I am definetly getting the feeling [name]Ottiline[/name] would not be a very loved name. As for your first thoughts though- what is it about [name]Matilda[/name] or [name]Clementine[/name] your more drawn too? Is it sound, popularity, personal refrence, a visual - just wondering?
I prefer [name]Matilda[/name] because [name]Clementine[/name] just reminds me of the fruit and the song. It would be refreshing to see a little [name]Matilda[/name] running around.
[name]Matilda[/name]! (or [name]Mathilda[/name]- more classic spelling?)
Nn [name]Tilda[/name], [name]Tillie[/name]… many possibilities. [name]Clementine[/name] is not so great in the nickname dept. [name]Clem[/name] rhymes with phlegm… [name]Clementine[/name] to me is diminutive sounding- always cute, never particularly strong.
[name]Matilda[/name]/[name]Mathilda[/name] has been a bit trendy in the past (like [name]Clementine[/name] is beginning to get now) but it’s way more classic. Such beautiful sounds in that name. It lilts in a lovely way, whereas [name]Clementine[/name] is more about the image of a clementine than the sound of the name. [name]Matilda[/name] has “Waltzing [name]Mathilda[/name]” as a lullaby, [name]Clementine[/name] has “…'twas a miner, 49er, and his daughter [name]Clementine[/name]…” [name]Matilda[/name] has a great [name]Roald[/name] Dahl heroine, [name]Clementine[/name] has [name]Eternal[/name] [name]Sunshine[/name] of the Spotless Mind.
I’m loving [name]Clementine[/name] but I’m crazy for [name]Matilda[/name]! I think [name]Matilda[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is perfect. It’s sweet and girly without being too much.
