[name_m]Hi[/name_m]
[name_m]Just[/name_m] curious as to the first three things that spring to mind when you hear the name [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]? ( pronounced [name_m]Len[/name_m] or [name_f]Lin[/name_f], not line)
They can be personality traits, looks etc. any first impressions…
Thanks
1 Pretty, [name_m]French[/name_m]
2 [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] Macann
3. [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
Sorry, I always associate a name with other people.
Otherwise, its a really pretty name. It has been on my list for a long time.
- [name_m]French[/name_m]!
- First Name I ever fell in love with!
- [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] Books. (I know the spelling is different but [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is my preferred spelling and the way the [name_m]Author[/name_m]'s Wife - after whom [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] was Named - spelt her Name.)
- [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] Macann
- Blonde
- The nn [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]
- 12 little girls in two straight lines
- [name_u]Paris[/name_u]
- teacups
- [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] McCann - a British girl who disappeared a few years ago while on holiday with her family in Portugal. She has never been found. The story had massive media coverage here in the UK.
- [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f], the Biblical figure, who in [name_m]French[/name_m] is called [name_f]Marie[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f].
- [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] of [name_u]Sweden[/name_u].
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f].
- [name_u]Paris[/name_u]
- Poodle skirts
- Porcelain dolls
- The cookies
- The adorable [name_m]French[/name_m] redhead (although her name is really spelled [name_f]Madeline[/name_f])
- The author, [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] L’Engle
- Petite madeleines, like those little odd shaped cake things they have in [name_f]France[/name_f]. Those are good.
- [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] McCann
- [name_f]Marie[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (or [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]).
- [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] books
- Madeleines (the [name_m]French[/name_m] cookies!). My cousin’s husband is from Nice, and they lived in [name_u]Paris[/name_u] for years. When she visited last, she made us crepes and madeleines.
- [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] McCann
[4. Pretty [name_m]French[/name_m] name!]
The first three are the first associations I make, but the fact that it’s a pretty [name_m]French[/name_m] name is seldom far from my mind. I like [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] a lot, although it hasn’t been on my list for years. I think I’m afraid it’ll get lost in the [name_f]Madilynn[/name_f]/Maddysyn/etc. craze.
[name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] of [name_u]Sweden[/name_u] is what comes to mind, but also [name_f]France[/name_f].
- The children’s books/[name_u]Paris[/name_u]
- Cookies
- [name_f]Mary[/name_f] of [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]
12 little girls in two straight lines
[name_m]French[/name_m]
Pretty and really feminine
- All things [name_m]French[/name_m] chic
- [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] McCann (I am British and this got MASSIVE media coverage here and still has occasional media coverage 9 years later)
- [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (the girl with red hair and the yellow hat)
1; [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] McCann
2; [name_f]France[/name_f]
3; the nickname [name_f]Maddy[/name_f]
Blonde
[name_m]Young[/name_m] girl
[name_m]Light[/name_m] laugh
My first thoughts were…
- The children’s book character (didn’t realize it was actually spelled [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] though!)/[name_f]France[/name_f]
- [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] cookies (which I love, so great association to me!)
I have an interest in royals and know who [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] of [name_u]Sweden[/name_u] is, but didn’t think of her until others’ posts brought it up. I’m not sure how well-known she is outside of [name_u]Sweden[/name_u]? I don’t think a lot of people I know would know who she is- though maybe this thread suggests otherwise! Being prompted, I have heard of [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] McCann, but wouldn’t have thought of it or have a clue what her name was without being told. I’m not from [name_m]Britain[/name_m] though.
- Poppies, daisies and all sorts of little and vibrant flowers
- 12 little girl in two straight lines as well (a wonderful association)
- 1920’s nostalgia (as in the film "[name_m]Midnight[/name_m] in [name_u]Paris[/name_u])
Bonus: - [name_m]Cole[/name_m] [name_u]Porter[/name_u]‘s “Let’s Fall in [name_u]Love[/name_u]”, [name_m]Conal[/name_m] Fowkes’ version
- The book series “School of Fear” (one of the main characters, also my favourite character, was named [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]" and I loved this series)
- [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] (which I pronounce differently, but I still think of it)
- The nn [name_f]Maddie[/name_f]
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think the name [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] evokes a nicer image in your mind than [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] does?
