Flick as a nickname for Felicity?

So I’ve recently started crushing on the nickname [name_f]Flick[/name_f] for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. I think it is cute and spunky but feels really natural and easy to say. And it kind of reminds me of [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] “[name_m]Kick[/name_m]” [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u], so it also has a slightly vintage quality to me. It’s an established nickname for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], but I’m wondering if it just sounds random and made up to people who don’t know that. [name_m]How[/name_m] do you guys feel about [name_f]Flick[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know anyone who goes by that or any other “unconventional” nickname? Thanks!!!

I think [name_f]Flick[/name_f] is very sweet and spunky. I like unusual nicknames a lot.
I know someone who has a daughter with a long D name and calls her [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], and I also know a [name_f]Julia[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Judy[/name_f].

I like it!

I love it. It makes [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] so spunky and cute.

I’ve always though [name_f]Flick[/name_f] was a go to nn for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], so I think it works fine.

I know a [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] that goes by [name_f]Flick[/name_f]. A v cute and spunky nn.

Thank you for replying! I was hoping to hear from someone with personal experience with this nickname! I was wondering, how do other people respond to the nickname? Like, if people are surprised at first, or any other feedback she has gotten. Also, is it a nickname everyone uses, or just her close friends and family? I just want to get a better idea of how this nickname works in real life. Thanks again!

Yes! It’s wonderful! If I were to have a [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] she’d also be a [name_f]Flick[/name_f].
I’ve only ever met one [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and she went by [name_f]Flick[/name_f], it always fit her perfectly and I never saw anyway respond negatively to it, but we met when I was 11 and she was 15, so perhaps I just wouldn’t have noticed. When I was 11 I thought it was one of the coolest nicknames ever (it helped that she was really cool too),

One of my neices is a [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] nn [name_f]Flick[/name_f]. She’s 11 (12?) and her nickname came from [name_f]Holly[/name_f] Valances character [name_f]Flick[/name_f] [name_m]Scully[/name_m] (short for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]) in the Aussie soap Neighbours.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], but I’ve (unfortunately) never found [name_f]Flick/name_f or Fliss particularly attractive as a nn for her. :frowning: Sorry! I agree that [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] nn [name_f]Flick[/name_f] seems super random and rather a stretch, and flicking someone isn’t a very nice thing to do! lol.

I struggled with a nn for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], for a long time, but I’ve recently fallen in love (in a big way!) with the idea of [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cece[/name_f]/Cici/Ceci (not sure how I would spell it, but I’m not a fan of [name_f]Cece[/name_f], personally. I think Cici makes most sense with [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]? But I like Ceci, too.). I also like [name_u]Izzy[/name_u], Fizzy, Litty, and even [name_f]Ella[/name_f], as a bit more of a stretch. It is an established nn, though, so I’m sure it makes sense to many people!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Flick[/name_f], but love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] nn Fliss more.

It is my sister in law’s name and she was and always has been [name_f]Flick[/name_f] to me. I think it’s something she goes as to everyone, although it is mostly a family/friends endearing nn. I think she’s [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] first and then [name_f]Flick[/name_f] when you know her, but that’s probably the same with every nn - I know that I am only [name_f]Liv[/name_f] once I have got to know someone.

Arial[/name_u]]I’ve met one and I like the sound of it but I wouldn’t use it because of the kerning issues of the font. It’s quite easy to handwrite, even accidentally, ‘[name_f]FLICK[/name_f]’ to look something else. Or any sans serif font will do it.

It does have a pleasant vintage sound like [name_u]Kit[/name_u] or [name_f]Dot[/name_f] or whatever, and it follows my rule for that, in that nicks can be very very cute but the full name has to be substantial. And [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is a nice name. But I would probably go with [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] - [name_m]Pip[/name_m] instead. I actually love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] - but I’m looking for a different nickname for it

I don’t like [name_f]Flick[/name_f] for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. They’re such difference names in my imagination. The Felicitys I know called [name_f]Flick[/name_f] in Australia (Neighbours aside!) are sporty, gravelly-voiced, loud girls. [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] seeks to me more bookish and sensitive. But Fliss (I know a couple) is so much less than [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. I guess in a different context [name_f]Flick[/name_f] could be spunky!?

Okay I ran it past my husband and he says he loves it for [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] (he loves [name_f]Felicia[/name_f] more than [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and I don’t know why) and now he’s all I love it.

I have outsmarted myself lol.

I don’t like it. It doesn’t bring to mind a pleasant image. I prefer Liss, [name_f]Lissie[/name_f], or Fi/[name_u]Fee[/name_u].
