Hello again! We are still trying to find the perfect name for our second little girl and it’s been a struggle. We thought we were set on Celine/Selene but have gotten quite a few negative opinions from our friends and family, we went back to the drawing board a bit. So out of our top names right now which sounds best? Also if you pick a Celine/Selene option, which is your preferred spelling? If it helps, our surname starts with a P.

- Sylvie Corinne
- Ines Lucille
- Mabel Simone
I voted for [name_f]Ines[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] because [name_f]Ines[/name_f] is my favorite on the list and I think [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] go really well together, but [name_f]Selene[/name_f] is a gorgeous name and if its your favorite you should go for it.

Ines, Mabel & Sylvie are my faves on the list - generally and with Flora. But am aware these are very popular on this site so if Celine/Selene is your fave (I’d go Celine with Flora), don’t worry about family/friends - unless they’re providing clear concerns (eg re flow) - they’ll be fine esp once it’s attached to a child! (I think Celine looks make frenchy-chic with Flora - but Selene probably looks better with Renee - even though Renee is French. I think Celine Lucille, Celine Inès, or even Celine Margot or Celine Mireille would look and sound great.)

I think it depends highly on why they had negative opinions…just remember it’s your daughter!

I can’t even describe how much I love [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Ines[/name_f] [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] (and [name_f]Celine[/name_f] [name_f]Renee[/name_f]. And [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] Corinne.) [name_f]My[/name_f] fave is probably [name_u]Blythe[/name_u], but if Celine/Selene is both your and your partner’s favourite, go for it! Don’t let others opinions doubt yourself. It’s a gorgeous name. I’d go with the [name_f]Celine[/name_f] spelling, just because that’s how I would intuitively spell it. Really, you can’t go wrong! I love [name_f]Celine[/name_f] [name_f]Renee[/name_f] - both names are on mulish but i’ve never thought to put them together. l much prefer the spelling [name_f]Celine[/name_f], though [name_f]Selene[/name_f] is lovely as well.
[name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is an absolutely stunning combo. I love everything about it.
[name_f]Mabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] with [name_f]Flora[/name_f] is darling!!

I love [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] but I don’t see what there is be negative about Celine/Selene.
I really like all of these names. For sisters though, I love [name_f]Flora[/name_f] & [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] or [name_f]Flora[/name_f] & [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. [name_f]Celine[/name_f] (my prefered spelling) has a bit of a different feel than [name_f]Flora[/name_f], not that you couldn’t use it, just not my first choice for you.
That said, if you love [name_f]Celine[/name_f] / [name_f]Selene[/name_f], use it. It’s a beautiful name and your family will get used to it.
[name_f]My[/name_f] advice is, do not let others make decisions for you. This is your baby to name and Celine/Selene is beautiful and works very well alongside [name_f]Flora[/name_f]. It’s unfortunate that others make comments like that but often I think they’re just commenting because it may not be THEIR favourite name, and I know it can shake our confidence in choosing the perfect name for us. Choose what you LOVE! I prefer the spelling [name_f]Celine[/name_f].
