Flora vs Florence

Hello everyone! I’ve recently fell in love with the names [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] and I was wondering your opinion on them and which one you prefer. I also love the names [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. I would love to get some feedback on these names and I also need some middle name suggestions. Thanks in advance!

I think [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] are all lovely names. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] looks a bit too clunky next to them. That said [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Florence[/name_f] would be an eclectic and interesting full name to have.

[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] would be a truly beautiful name. I absolutely love it!

I love all the names you listed! If I had to choose between [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] I slightly prefer [name_f]Florence[/name_f]. They both have a soft, laid back feel to them, but [name_f]Florence[/name_f] sounds a bit more regal to me. I had [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] on my list forever, but our last name shares too many sounds with [name_f]Florence[/name_f]! I also love the nickname Lady for [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps

I highly prefer [name_f]Flora[/name_f] to [name_f]Florence[/name_f].

I much prefer [name_f]Flora[/name_f] over [name_f]Florence[/name_f]. It is so much prettier to me and is old-fashioned in a more attractive, vintage way than [name_f]Florence[/name_f], which I think has a reputation for being old-fashioned in the dreary sense (like [name_f]Edna[/name_f]). [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is nice, if not a bit overpopular. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is nice.

[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Lynette[/name_f]/[name_f]Lynetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]

Both names are two of my all-time favorites. I always say that if it comes down to it, I would choose [name_f]Florence[/name_f] with the nn [name_f]Flora[/name_f] to get the best of both worlds! But I think I may slightly prefer [name_f]Flora[/name_f]… it’s short and beautiful. [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] (or [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]) would be lovely. My favorite combos for both are:

[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u]

[name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]

Hopefully these help!

I love [name_f]Flora[/name_f], it’s timeless but with a vintage vibe, it’s youthful without sounding immature, international and I can picture it on a young child, adult and elderly person. It’s versitile, I can see many people being [name_f]Flora[/name_f], as it’s feminine but not too frilly and elegant but still fun.
I also like [name_f]Florence[/name_f], I view it as the buttoned-up version of [name_f]Flora[/name_f], more mature, less youthful, very elegant, I can also see it on people of all ages, it’s a strong name.

I also really like [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is not my style but it has similar qualities to [name_f]Flora[/name_f], it’s elegant yet youthful and fun while [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is very elegant but calmer.

I have a long list of middle names for [name_f]Flora[/name_f] here: http://brilliantbabynames.tumblr.com/tagged/flora (my favourite is [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f])
I can’t think of many other middle names for the rest that have not been mentioned yet!

I love [name_f]Florence[/name_f], like [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] a lot, and I’m not particularly keen on [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] to me is a little bit clunky and unwieldy, which I usually like, but for some reason not here. I think it’s because I studied [name_m]French[/name_m] for a long time and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] has the [name_m]French[/name_m] word for “ugly” (“laide”) very clearly in it.

[name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] are both lovely names, very soft and delicate and a little bit lacy and flowery. Not really my taste, but I can definitely appreciate how beautiful and feminine they both are.

[name_f]Florence[/name_f] is wonderful! I find the sharp -ce ending balances out the floweriness perfectly and gives the a good helping of spunkiness, which [name_f]Flora[/name_f] lacks to me. I find [name_f]Florence[/name_f] very crisp, clean, strong and chic. I feel the same way about [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], though I know not everyone likes the -x.

I prefer [name_f]Flora[/name_f] because it seems more youthful than [name_f]Florence[/name_f]. Plus, [name_f]Florence[/name_f] repeats the -ce ending of [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], which I would avoid in a potential sibset.
