Flora

As I search names that could work well with [name_f]Lyra[/name_f], I found [name_f]Flora[/name_f] which is a family of asteroids and also the roman goddess of flowers

What do you think of this name?

Yeah the nick name [name_f]Flo[/name_f] is unfortunate. I think [name_f]Flora[/name_f] is short and sweet enough to not need a nick name

There was a little girl in the Netflix horror show that came out this fall haunting of blythe manor. She was really cute!

I agree. Besides, Iā€™ve learned that nicknames often come from events or jokes, so they donā€™t necessarily have to come from the name itself. [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] would be a gorgeous sibset!

I feel like [name_f]Flora[/name_f] would pair really well with [name_f]Iris[/name_f] as well but our last name starts with the ā€˜shā€™ sound so IDK about [name_f]Iris[/name_f] ~Shoemaker~

Iā€™ve been nuts about this name lately. Canā€™t believe it was in the 700s in 2019! I wouldnā€™t be surprised if it reached top 100 in the next few yearsā€¦ I actually think flo is a cool nn despite connotations. [name_f]Flor[/name_f] is lovely too (though it sounds like floor and flaw in englishā€¦)

Oh and I also recently read a book called The Book of Flora which was the third in a post apocalyptic trilogy. The character was a trans woman. It only made me love it more!

I do like [name_f]Flora[/name_f] ā€” itā€™s mythology and nature intertwined! But the first syllable of ā€œ[name_f]Floor[/name_f]ā€ makes me think of the floor and then Iā€™m just befuddled by that imagery.

Actually I do love the ā€œoraā€ sound, which is why [name_f]Laura[/name_f] is in my list!:stars:

I love [name_f]Flora[/name_f]! [name_u]Bright[/name_u], earthy and interesting

I went to school with a [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and always thought it was a lovely vintagey choice.

I absolutely love it! It was a strong consideration for our DD2, but the popularity of [name_f]Florence[/name_f] (weā€™re in the UK) plus some personal associations ultimately put us off.

I think itā€™s the perfect combo of pretty and sleek, with a simple, international sound and the great mythological namesake. I donā€™t love any of the nicknames but I donā€™t think it needs one!

Thanks for the input!!

Flora is one of my favorites rn

I absolutely LOVE both [name_f]Flora[/name_f] and [name_f]Lyra[/name_f]. They also have very similar auras to me . They would be so cute as a sibset, too.

I think itā€™s a beautiful name! Sweet and gentle, yet still strong and sturdy enough that itā€™ll age well. It feels fresh to me too!
