I am trying to honour/acknowledge a family member of mine whom I look up too and admire greatly. They are very outdoorsy, and while I was growing up, they lived on a massive property with beautiful, fairy tale style gardens for my cousins and I to play in. I have very fond memories of this, and this person’s favourite thing/hobby has always been nature. I know that a nature (especially floral) name would be excellent to honour them - more so than their actual name.
Sorry for being cryptic, but please, throw your favourite, not too ‘out there’ nature names at me. The only kind I dislike are [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] and [name_m]Bear[/name_m] (and other ferocious animals that likely would sound aggressive).
I currently have [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] on my list.
These are a few that have the most naturey imagery for me, without being too out-there, hopefully…
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Snow[/name_f]
[name_f]Blossom[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Laurel[/name_f]
[name_f]Garland[/name_f]
[name_f]Fern[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_u]Bay[/name_u]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_u]Linden[/name_u]
[name_f]Avis[/name_f]
[name_f]Eira[/name_f] ‘‘snow’’
[name_f]Fjord[/name_f]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] ‘‘hazelnut’’ - this meaning is so memorable to me for some reason, I think it’s lovely
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f] or [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Lark[/name_f]
[name_f]Plum[/name_f] - is [name_f]Apple[/name_f] to out-there?!
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f] ([name_f]Briallen[/name_f] is Welsh for [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], also lovely)
[name_f]Posy[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Maple[/name_f]
[name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_f]Florentina[/name_f] etc.
[name_f]Daffodil[/name_f], [name_f]Snowdrop[/name_f], [name_f]Tulip[/name_f]… I’m guessing you’re not going to be a fan?
There’s also [name_u]Arden[/name_u] which means ‘‘valley of the eagle’’ which is so powerfully nature-y to me, and just feels very outdoorsy for some reason.
A couple more I personally love - Eirys, the Welsh word for [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is just so beautiful and mysterious. [name_f]Briar[/name_f] and [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f] are both on my list right now (most likely as mns) and are very special to me, with vivid imagery of childhood and English spring.
Thanks everyone, they’re to honour my maternal grandparents, primarily my grandmother.
I love [name_f]Holly[/name_f], [name_f]Heather[/name_f], [name_f]Clover[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Eira[/name_f], [name_f]Aveline[/name_f], [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], [name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_f]Snow[/name_f]/[name_u]Winter[/name_u], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Posy[/name_f], [name_f]Florence[/name_f], and I love [name_f]Daffodil[/name_f] and [name_f]Snowdrop[/name_f] as nicknames/pet names.
