Florentin

My DH just suggested [name_m]Florentin[/name_m] as well as [name_m]Florent[/name_m] which are both not names he would usually suggest.

I really shouldn’t be adding to our already too long list, but thoughts?
Brother would be [name_u]Michel[/name_u]

Anyone else got an opinion?

[name_m]Florent[/name_m] is better. I am intrigued by it.

I think [name_m]Florentin[/name_m] is riveting! I much prefer it to [name_m]Florent[/name_m] (which just seems a bit unfinished to me) and I definitely think [name_u]Michel[/name_u] and [name_m]Florentin[/name_m] could work :smiley: I also like Floridor a lot.

I love [name_m]Florentin[/name_m], it’s such a wonderful, sophisticated name. [name_u]Michel[/name_u] and [name_m]Florentin[/name_m] would be great as brothers. [name_m]Florent[/name_m] is nice too, but somehow it seems like there’s something missing. It could make a good nickname though.

I think of the soup, though it has an ‘e’ at the end :confused: so I can’t really quite take this as an actual name. I will say that I like it better than [name_m]Florent[/name_m], which does feel incomplete. I do feel that, since you mentioned your list is long already, it might not be too wise to add another name…unless you really become attached and think that this one is better than all the rest. Otherwise, it becomes clutter. Been there, done that.

I agree that [name_m]Florent[/name_m] feels incomplete, [name_m]Clement[/name_m] is a better option, a little lighter, and I think I would prefer [name_m]Laurent[/name_m] as well, even though [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] is very dear to me.
[name_m]Florentin[/name_m] is lovely though, but I love all the longer -in names, [name_m]Valentin[/name_m], [name_m]Augustin[/name_m], [name_m]Constantin[/name_m], [name_m]Corentin[/name_m], [name_m]Zephyrin[/name_m]…
[name_m]Florentin[/name_m] fits well with [name_u]Michel[/name_u], [name_m]Florent[/name_m] is not better even if it’s more equal in length.

[name_m]Florentin[/name_m] is gorgeous! It’s quite elaborate, dramatic and grand, in a good way. It brings to mind a cultured, worldly, sophisticated man. I could imagine a romantic hero in medieval/classic [name_m]French[/name_m] literature being named [name_m]Florentin[/name_m]. [name_m]Florent[/name_m] doesn’t quite seem complete, but would be a lovely, lighter and perhaps more wearable nickname for [name_m]Florentin[/name_m] if need be. [name_m]Florentin[/name_m]/[name_m]Florent[/name_m] and [name_u]Michel[/name_u] would make a great sibset!

@dearest- I love [name_m]Corentin[/name_m]! And [name_u]Konstantin[/name_u] (I prefer this spelling because of [name_u]Konstantin[/name_u] [name_m]Levin[/name_m] from [name_f]Anna[/name_f] Karenina.)

[name_m]Florentin[/name_m] is beautiful, and if it’s too much name, there’s always the nn [name_u]Ren[/name_u] to fall back on. I do slightly prefer [name_m]Corentin[/name_m].
